I can't exactly narrow it down to what mods, but last night I had the same mods and did NOT fail to launch the game.

Fairly recently, why?

I updated contract configurator to try to fix a separate mission builder bug, but it worked for the first few launches of the game.

It's a mod problem, confirmed. Clean install fixed on a different drive. Now it's time to pinpoint which mod (or mod combo) it was.

Well, the debug copy on vanilla worked so I brought back all the mods... and it worked for a single game launch. Then it froze on loading a save and promptly crashed. I'm going to check if it's something wrong with my newer mods. Really thought I had it!

I might have it here, if it doesn't then I'm stumped.

I DID IT! It had left over real solar system textures, for some reason. It should have removed it automatically!
