Pause key to Pause the game...

Recommended Posts

In KSP1, hitting Escape brings up a menu and pauses the game, in KSP2, it brings up a menu, but doesn't pause it.  I find this kind of unintuitive.

I looked at the key mappings in KSP2... there is no way to map pausing the game to any key. I want that functionality, clicking a button on the UI with the mouse is not the best idea. I should be able to do so at a keystroke. Now it doesn't have to be tied to Escape like it was in KSP1, though I think that makes sense. But, my keyboards all have a Pause key... it kind of makes sense for it to be used.

That works, but if you are warping at the time it's a few key presses.  Or two if you press / then <.

I do agree though, having it tied to Esc is more  intuitive.

I had to go try it, and yes, it works, but I really don't like that it is neither explained anywhere I recall seeing, and is tied to the same key as that used to reduce the time warp factor. That is poor UI design. And it should be something I can map to another key entirely.

This is connected to the fact that KSP2 is being engineered to be a multiplayer game, where pausing the game sim at your own convenience is usually impossible. As was pointed out, reducing timewarp with the [< ,] key until time is paused effectively does pause the game for you, but probably not the internal server and time potentially passing for other players in development builds.

That said, it'd be good to have at least a configurable pause button that immediately sets your timewarp to paused mode.
