[1.12.x] Planetary System From Space Engine

I will be making a planetary system from Space engine in IRL scale just because I like the feel of these types of systems. It turns out that space engine has all the tools needed to create planets, except config files. I will do my best to recreate the star system RS 8474-941-200691-117 into KSP.

The system has 8192x4096 textures to make the terrain more defined (and keep memory usage low). It spawns you in a binary gas planet system with an earth-like moon complete with volcanoes and full scale terrain. There will be 40 planned bodies across 9 planets.

Making planets from space engine is not really good practice in my opinion, since all planets from space engine are all procedural in nature so you just end with a planet pack full of generic looking planets, like using chatgpt to write a novel.

Spoiler

Just focus on lsr already and stop making like 300 planet packs...

yes. it is a side quest to realistically make a planetary system. I would actually like to try it out.

I am focusing on LSR (there is an update soon) I am releasing bodies at nearly one per day so yeah

i agree with what you said about the generic planets. that’s why over half of the large bodies in LSR are particularly interesting (terrain, colour, properties) etc
