Hey everybody! I tried now installing kethane 0.8.8 without and with taniwha's fix on KSP 0.24.2 (32bit). Unfortunately this isn't doing the job either....

Even though I used different ship configurations on several kethane deposits. The drill deployed, sparks are appearing, as well as the green smoke, but my kethane tanks are not filling up :(

sounds to me like your ship is not built right. i just tested kethane last nite and it worked without a problem. so make sure your tanks for kethane are inline remember kethane is tempermental about tank placement.

I'll be landing on Mun with a drill/converter before I have a chance to scan for Kethane. Since it needs to be scanned first, if I happen to land in an area that has Kethane (slim chance, but a chance nonetheless) I can't mine it. So for now I'd like to just paste in the scan data to my persistence file. Anyone who has Mun scanned, can you PM me the data from the ScanMask property for Mun?

Why not just build the lightest/simplest rocket you can to get a small scanner to orbit the Mun?

hmm having a issue with the kethane mod. I haven't played the game in a month and with the new update I could not process kethane.

The detector, mining probes, seem to work I.E. I am detecting and mapping the kethane and I can mine and store it, (mech jeb showed my mass increasing) but I cannot use it to make the different fuels nor can I use it to power my Kethane power generator.

I updated the mod but when I did I lost some of the functions. When I click on the processor all I get is the option to make fuel or to make monopropellant, where I get the options to make oxidizer, fuel, xenon, or mono.

And it isn't a bad design, I have been using the kethane mod for several months and my stock designs, which worked well , do not process kethane

Any ideas ?

AFAIK big generator has option to generate 1. LFO+xenon or 2. monopropellant and small generator generates 1. liquidfuel+mono or 2. oxidizer+mono.

You can't generate eg. only LF with big converter (if you have space for oxy) or ideal proportions of LFO with small one (it generates more LF than oxy in the same time).

That's how it works and I guess how it's supposed to work, it's pretty simple and well rounded system.

If your converters doesn't work it could be wrong fuel line connection (instructions in first post or test at launchapad with tweakable kethane mod) or you did not install taniwha's 0.8.8.1 patch which enables Kethane to work with KSP 0.24.x. It's been posted every few pages after .24 release.

yep this qualifies as a end user error, apparently I saved it in the kethane folder as the game data folder, instead of gamedata folder to gamedata folder....

it works without any issues now.

I will recheck the patch and see, but I have been using the Kethane mod for some time, and my stock lander/miner/converter doesn't work now. It will detect/map kethane, the drill works and my kethane tanks fill up and increase my vessel mass according to the mech jeb mod, but the converters will not work nor will the Kethane power generator function.

I'm trying to build a spaceplane with two zero bypass turbines in KSP 0.24.2 (32-bit) with Kethane 0.8.8.1 but putting one of the Kethane zero bypass turbines on my vessel makes its price NaN, and KSP even though I have like 2 million+ "roots" says "You cannot afford to launch this vessel"

Can someone else confirm my finding or should I remove all my other mods and try again?

did u try when u build it make sure the slider for power genration is on 0 its probaly the bug alot of stuff had in .23 and since i dont use kethane engines i can only guess thou.

hi all, I have a problem on the mod, the grill of the kethane is not showing up right in the tracking station, is way big and if I try to zoom out it gets bigger, any one had this problem ??

Nevermind found the problem, but still having some issues on the grill, is not showing the MKS mod recourses.

MKS uses ORS which is separate resource handling system different from Kethane (which uses its own resource system). Maybe there are mods integrating ORS and Kethane overlays but I can't think of any. Kethane is really different so it probably would be counterintuitive. You can still use both at the same time with no problem and simply switch between overlays (Blizzy's toolbar).

Yup, I chose to 'vote with my feet' and deprecate Kethane support after I saw no change in ModStaticstics. So while there are likely some older MKS installs/configs with Kethane (pre-0.19), it is no longer a supported option, and we work with ORS exclusively now.

This may be dumb question, but does is actually affect anything? :P AFAIK ORS and Karbonite does not conflict with Kethane and I don't see why it would, was MKS somehow changed to support Kethane before? And are there some things that may break with Kethane installed alongside MKS v.20+? Again, I haven't read all the threads here, sorry if thiis is somehow obvious, just asking :)

As I understand it, previously the MKS resources showed up as kethane style deposits on the kethane grid overlay. Now they use the ORS style deposits and system. The user-facing effect of this is that you won't see the resources on the kethane overlay, and that they now use concentration gradients rather than discrete deposits so that you can pretty much mine anything anywhere and get SOMETHING though the extraction rate might be abysmally low whereas kethane is a binary system. There either is or is not a deposit to mine.

Nope, no bugs/etc. but all of the Kethane support was explicitly removed (so no MKS resources in the Kethane overlays, etc.) and it's not supported when folks have questions. I know some folks used both side by side (i.e. MKS with EL), but I expect with the introduction of at least two different EL->Karbonite conversions that will eventually go away as well.

Miro, when you do not know if some mod is compatible with newest KSP version, check out few last pages of the discussion (if there was any after update) - there is great chance you are not first to ask about that.

On the topic tho, taniwha has provided a fix for that, you can find it in this thread and it resolves all compatibility issues.

I am not sure what I am reading in this post...

Is kethane still supported for .24 or its being discontinued.

It tells me its not a valid mod when I load up .24 but the game seems to run just fine.

It was re-compiled against 0.24 but not 0.24.2 - it works, but thinks it shouldn't, and there's the chance that it suddenly won't due to it not being compiled against the current version. Unless you meant with regards to what RoverDude was saying, in which case he was saying that a base logistics mod of his is no longer using Kethane. Either way, it doesn't particularly matter, because this happens tomorrow.

Hi all again,

I see so the new rules have made kethane illegal ?!?!?!? okay, okay , but i´m sorry to say but I think the rules controlling data protection are light comparing to the ones we have here in Portugal, and if some program uses user data have to use some hardware to keep it safe and according to the LOPD even Squad can be process due to some mod some one created, so its best to read the small print.

Hi there, maybe am i doing it wrong but... It's still activated, powered (as you can see..) and kethane just dont want to become usable fuel. Roley, Joemund and Sondin kerman would be glad to take off again. Help me or they'll probably die on mün :(
