By any chance when you remove these objects is there a flickering version of one left behind? I've had this before with almost random mods, and I think (not sure) from stock KSP. What I've had seems random, and unfortunately stays with the craft file. Reloading it doesn't help.

Yep. I may have had it before in stock, but it was remarkably rare. With Kethane, it's almost every time.

So, how many detectors does it take to scan at 10,000x? I built one with 21 small detectors which works well at 1,000x, but isn't nearly enough for 10,000x. Maybe it's not worth the effort, but I'm curious if anyone has done it?

BTW, I get around power problems by putting my polar-ish orbit along the terminator. That way never goes into shadow unless I drop the inclination.

If your going for 100% resolution on high warp use the bigger scanners. For x10k warp your gonna need 45-50 (depending on planet/moon), and even then your gonna be getting something like 85ish% per pass revolution.

I do my testing/scanning at x1000 warp myself. You can have totaly filled map of Eve in about 35min on x1000, so i figured meh, good enough.

6 small detectors are enough for 1,000x I find, haven't tried any faster as mentioned it only takes 30 or so minutes. 10,000x wouldn't be hard: 5 large detectors on those not-rockomax small nodes using scaffolds, 8x symmetry, twice, thats 80 (alt-click is your friend). Power and a nuke, then just lift it (gonna be heavy).

Really though, compared to a tiny ship (8 or so tons) that has 6 small detectors on it and can go everywhere, designing this monstrosity would take longer than sitting back and letting the small ship map at 1,000x warp. IMHO it's not worth bothering with 10,000x mapping.

Gotta say I love this mod, it's a staple of KSP! Thanks to all involved.

All right. Thanks for the tips everyone. It sounds like I'll stick with 1000x and small scanners, until I go someplace bigger than Kerbin/Laythe. All my targets right now are small, so that'll make my missions easier.

Now that that's sorted out, can anyone point me to a "known issues" or troubleshooting FAQ? I've tried to dig through this thread to locate solutions, but always have trouble finding things. I think it would be helpful to many others if troubleshooting info were in a more obvious place.

The specific issues are:

• the grid showing up on the game menu screens,

• unable to end flights on one save but the other is working fine, and

• VAB starts to malfunction when I try to attach a detector.

And, yes, I deleted the old version first, and yes everything is in /GameData. I remember reading the answers somewhere in this thread, but can't find it anymore.

Please supply your KSP/KSP_Data/output_log.txt file for each of these cases.

Problem one is not a bug but you can dissable it if you don't like it

3, what other plugins do you have installed? Editor tools? Editor extensions?

I've never had trouble with anything in the VAB with any Kethane parts so that needs to be narrowed down a little. Have to tried it with stock + Kethane with the same results?

Output_log.txt is here. Oh, and the only mods are Kethane and MechJeb2.

The error is occurring in KSP code. Here's the relevant stacktrace:

It looks like Kethane is providing the correct path and you have some kind of file permissions issue.

2, new one to me

I've encountered this with a gratuitous number of mods installed, so not pointing any fingers at kethane. It improved markedly when I found and removed an extra version of modulemanager.dll that came with the remotetech probe pack.

NB: Some of the associated problems did not resolve themselves without reinstalling KSP (even after I removed every modified file and save game I could find)

I just installed the mod, and now i cant exit the game or use the esc menu. Cant press "space center" or "end flight" but "settings" and "resume flight" buttons works just fine. The only other mod i am running is mechjeb 2

Can exit with the red X though

Running 0.7.3 of the mod

Problem only comes when i use a survey item.

I have the same problem

i thought it was the anti tank mod because he was complaining that he was too light but when i tried to end without the mod it still didn't work and when i removed kethane mod it started to work again

Mods installed:

Anti matter tank (private mod)

Kethane debugger

Kethane

Quick question, I went straight from .5 to .7. I deleted the old stuff and added the new stuff. Should I no have done that? I'm running into issues with not being able to end any flights. Can anyone advise?

Everyone with "end flight" issues should read the last page or two. (Honestly, you should always read the last page or two when you have problems, and the last 30 to be safe.) At the top of this page, I explain it's a KSP file access issue. Try moving KSP to a user folder, like Documents or Downloads.

Ok so I get that moving my folder will fix my issue, but I bought the game through Steam and I can't just move files around. Majiir, I also understand that answering the same question over and over is annoying and I apologize but I only ask because I didn't see anyone else with the same issue I had. I also ask because your mod is quite possible the most useful mod out.

Is your steam in the Program Files ? If so you can try making a 2nd Steam install directory...a feature Steam introduced a while back, and try re-installing KSP there.

I am using a Steam ver. of KSP with Kethane with no issues, so it isnt due to it being on Steam.

Also, with the coming .21 update, nobody should be worried too much about preserving your deposit locations.

You know something I don't? I thought that was still a month or more away....

As for the issues.....

I play ksp though steam. Even have it installed in steam default path. Could it be the people with the problems (that's looks like a write to file permissions issue) are not installing/running the game from their computers admin account?? Or maybe its a Win7 thing?....I know 7 likes to pretend your not the admin even when ya are, and sometitmes it needs a stern talking to.

Even if you are the administrator, Windows enjoys restricting games in the Program Files (x86) folder, which your games are probably in if you have Steam there. Try moving the KSP folder anywhere else and see if it runs better from there.

Just a thought, but if you wanted to reset your deposits (all of them), how would you do that?
I believe this is doable with the debug tool wich you can download in the first post.

Or try deleting the kethane.cfg in your save's folder, might reset them all too.
