Is it safe for me to edit the part configs if I currently have no converter parts deployed/in flight anywhere? I reckon that upping the power draw a bit on the 2m one in order to boost its efficiency so it can at least match and maybe slightly exceed the 1m one seems fair enough.

You can edit parts any time. The changes take effect when you start the game, while the parts are being loaded. So even if a converter is already in flight, you can change stuff.

Okay, so I got rid of all my flags, but the problem I'm having still exists.

Thing is, I don't just lose the map overlay on planets I have flags on. I lose the map overlay on every single planet/moon at the same exact time.

The thing I do that triggers it is:

1. turn off map overlay

2. switch to another vessel.

result: map overlay is gone, everywhere. The UI window that usually contains the map overlay control and debug stuff (if enabled) is present, but all the elements of that window are out of place and non-functional.

The only way I know of to fix it so far is to exit KSP, find the kethane settings.cfg file, find "ShowOverlay = False" in that file, and change it back to "True".

After doing that, if I follow steps 1 and 2 again, it breaks again, in the same way.

I've get this bug where sometimes the screen where you select the VAB, Tracking station and etc goes all black. All I can see is the UI which only lets me quit. I've tried clicking around but no luck.

I'm playing with the following add-ons: Engineer, Deadly Reentry, Kerbal Alarm Clock and Remote Tech. Before I installed Kethane I never had this problem. I've played with the same add-ons with Kethane instead of Remote Tech before and didn't have this problem. So I'm guessing it has something Kethane and Remote tech isn't working together. Anyone else played with these addons? Anyone know what the problem could be?

I'm getting this weird bug and I was wondering if anybody had experience with it. I've gone through the last forty or so pages of this thread for people with a similar issue, and seen no one.

Basically, the game runs normally until some point after recovering a vessel. At that point, it's as though the shadow system just freaks out and starts casting shadows on everything, but the shadows depend on the camera's position. So moving the camera slightly results in different shadows. I have a bunch of other mods installed, but when I remove Kethane the problem goes away. The problem exists in both Career and Sandbox mode, and it's fairly easy to reproduce (at least for me). I wanted to ask here if anybody had any experience with the issue. I'm hesitant to submit a bug report, though, because I have a bunch of other mods installed, too, and stepping through all possible combinations of them would be tedious.

Im sorry if this has been answered already, but after reading 200 pages of comments, I have only seen the question, not the answer.

Has anyone implemented Kethane deposits for Krags Planet Factory. I am still running version 0.22 and refuse to update for now, because I hate redoing thousands of cfg files due to being lazy as hell.:)

No, no memory reduction mods. I do have KW Rocketry and enough mods that I might be close to the limit, but I'm nowhere near it, I think. I am running on Mac, however, so it's possible there's just an incompatibility.

I'm on a Mac and not having any problems like you're experiencing, even with KW installed. However, I AM using rbray's active memory reduction mod too.

i know LOX/Feul doesnt flow through KAS pipes but does kethane

if i join a miner and a converter or a miner and a storage, by a KAS pipe will the spice flow. i mean kethane.. will the kethane flow

Nope. KAS fuel pipes are really just sort of a hack; when two craft are connected with them, the game treats the two as if they are one vessel. You can transfer kethane like any other resource but it won't do so by itself. Similarly, if your converter is running, fuel/lox produced will NOT fill tanks through the KAS fuel pipe automagically.

Kethane does, if the KAS cable connection is in docked mode. I built a rover with two heavy Kethane drills and another rover with a Kethane converter and tank. Space droppable refueling system for manned landers, can land on Eve without parachutes so should be able to land anywhere that has a surface to land on.

Somewhere on this forum I posted a link to download the rovers, but I can't find it due to the way the forum search doesn't pull out individual posts as results.

TAC FUEL BALANCER PEOPLE!!!

Serious....it eliminates 99.9% of the fuel routing issues posted in this thread, even those KAS based complaints. Its a very lightweight, partfree plugin and super useful. Kethane and TAC FB go hand in hand....trust me, try it once with Kethane mining ops and you will be hooked!

I noticed in the tutorial for Kethane it mentioned a extraction tutorial. Could we see these tutorials finished anytime soon?

Find deposit, land on deposit with drill and kethane storage, extract kethane.....its that simple. The only other thing that could possibly come into play is fuel routing, for that there is the thread linked in OP. What else ya need to know?..

I must not have explained myself well enough. If you load up KSP and go to the main menu, you have Scenarios, Tutorials, New Game, Load Game etc. In the TUTORIALS section of KSP, there is a Kethane Scanner tutorial you can play with and learn about the mod. Near the end of that tutorial it talks about a drilling and extracting tutorial however it is not there. I was asking when we could see something that like be put in to continue the interactive tutorial series.

I think its not high up on the priority list since honestly your thr first person to ever ask for it....as in its not really needed.

There is a scanning tutorial because the topic comes up (or used to) at least once per page in this thread. Very seldom does anyone ask how to drill for kethane.

Supply and demand =)

Is there certain aspects of extraxtion that your having issues with? If so by all means ask away here. You will find many users of kethane to be nice and rather helpful when it comes to stuff like this.

You know what WOULD be useful? For folks who've played with kethane quite a bit to chime in with examples of efficient operations plans. For instance, is it better to drill and extract kethane, then haul it orbit for mass refining and filling a tank farm? Or is it more efficient to refine it on the ground and then haul fuel/lox back to orbit? How does that vary based on the gravity of the resource world? Important usage considerations for various scenarios, etc.
