How do I get the Ion Engine from the Deep Space Pack to work?

I have the Deep Space pack which comes with the Ion Engine, but I cannot get it to work. I have a battery & Ion engine, and solar panels, and when I fire the Ion engine stage I get a box pop-up with a check thing to fire the engine, but whenever I click it nothing happens even at full throttle. What am I doing wrong?

Did you try clicking that ion engine switch?

If so, than I have no idea based on the little info I have

Try installing the 0.17 Perodobodobeasdsfdgklsfsfds mod, it has an ion engine in it too, see if that works (it does for me).

Did you put that resource thing in the resource file? That seems to be the cause of most problems I have seen.
