KSRe-dev
I wanted to discuss part modules so we can understand them better, maybe this info is elsewhere and I haven't seen it. If you modded KSP you'll be familiar with part modules, for others, each part can have variable number and type of modules, for example the engine module can be added to a part, and controls all the functions of an engine. In KSP2 these are currently split into 3 different classes - a data module, component module, and the regular module. The data module seems to be purely for storing data, and is always active. The component module is always active in flight mode but inactive in the editor. It seems purely intended for resources and things that need to run in the background when a vessel is inactive, and separated maybe for performance. The regular module only contains active functionality like UI interactions and things that change based on user input. It seems to be disabled when the vessel is inactive and not near the KSC. If anyone has further insights that can help us mod these, that would be welcome.
