Pure performance grapics.

Recommended Posts

I thin KSP2 would benefit tremendously from adding an ultra low graphics setting focused purely on performance, this would open up the huge market of budget pcs allowing playing it on old hardware at reasonable fps. I care about graphics but id rather have playable fps with n64 graphics than unplayable fps with aaa graphics.

essentially a ksp 1 graphics setting.

Sure, I totally agree with that, but I don't think it's as simple as said. Like many people on other communities stating they want a game to just use up more cores for better performance don't seem to understand that you can't simply distribute every calculation on all the cores to get more FPS. A graphics card sure is similar on that argumentation and sometimes the graphics alone isn't even the root problem. Because a code piece by itself can be a limitation too. Bet there is already lots of work on their list for graphics. I mean, they care about old and different systems and colonies needs the optimization after all.

I know, but limiting render distance or using low poly models would bump up performance. Sure not by a ton but that's better than nothing.

So, what do you think how much work would be needed for implementing low poly models? Just 'better than nothing' is hardly enough to justify the amount of time that probably would be needed at the moment. I get what you mean, but I think that it does more harm than good and doesn't even meet the expectations. Looking at the performance jumps from patch to patch, that's at least equal from what I would expect from you approach right now.

Ya, for me my cpu is above requirements but my GPU is a workstation GPU and so doesn't do great. I think having potato setting would help,  ie making textures very low and making water non-reflective. unless I am missing something this should be easy enough. even if it is under a warning that it might not work.
