Colonizing the kerbolar system (ussr playtrough)

Recommended Posts

The purpose of this playtrough is to colonize the kerbolar system as the USSR. Im trying to keep a kinda realistic look to everything, and i have only 2 parts mods: planetside exploration tech and station parts expansion redux, alongside some visual mods like parallax 2 and blackrack's volumetric clouds.

Jebediah Kerman was the first person to step on the surface of the mun.

After this succesfull mission, the kerbals also landed on the surface of minmus. Last but not least, the development of an outpost on the surface of the mun has begun, it will be assembled in orbit therefore i tought that it would have been a good idea to build a space station first. this station is named ''korolev munar station'' after sergej korolev.

this is it for now, i started this playtrough yesterday and i will give you updates as soon as possible. cya!

Great news for the USSR! the korolev outpost is complete! it was assembled it orbit, but sadly i used the wrong docking ports so i wasnt able to dock the outpost to the station during assembly, but it doesnt matter. here are some highlights from the mission

Next mission will consist in sending a rover to give data to the station, the laboratory is going to work on the data to gain as much science as possible

a lot of news for the ussr! today was a very long day. I started off by sending a crew transfer mission to get some scientists on the base. This crew transfer mission was essential since i didnt have any scientists onboard at all, and it also docked to the space station to recover jeb and bill. here are some pictures (the lander is ugly because i had to use the ugly docking ports, sorry for the ugly design)

202406091042511.jpg

i had to land a bit far away because the terrain was wayyyyyyyyyyy too inclined. here is the docking to the station

202406091036581.jpg

then i sent 3 satellites in the orbit of the mun, that way the base had comunications with the ksc and was able to transmit data, since i landed on the dark side on the mun i had no way to transmit data without these.

202406091604361.jpg

sadly i dont have any pics of these sats in the munar orbit cus i forgot to take them. Last but not least, after 4 years of research the korolev munar outpost achieved its objective. a lot of data was transmitted to the ksc and we will soon get to duna. To recover the kerbals in the outpost i sent a simple lander, but i didnt have enough dv to get back so i just ended up docking to the station. A mission to recover everyone will be sent soon. here is the lander

Great news for the ussr! Today i have done 2 missions to duna, one was a satelline to find a decent landing spot, since our last outpost was on a 45 degrees inclination lol. Here is a picture of the probe, but sadly i had to get rid of scansat after this mission, because my game just crashes for no reason when i use scansat. Here is a picture of the probe next to a massive sandstorm!

202406101802201.jpg

after that i waited for another transfer window and i sent a probe on the surface to see if the landing spot was actually good. The probe has a skycrane, that way it can change position and we can see the best position for the outpost

after that, the probe was caught in a very cool sandstorm. here is a picture

thats it for today. Cya

Great news for the ussr! Our best engineers designed the brand new ''Kosmoplan 1'', its first mission was to recover the kerbals from the Korolev munar station. everything went as planned. Here are pictures from the mission.

GREAT news for the ussr! today we have finally finished the construction for a duna landing and return mission. The orbital assembly consisted in 3 launches since i still need to unlock the big fairings, or else it would have been 1 launch lol. anyways here are the pictures
LAUNCH 1

this launch consisted in sending the main ship into orbit. the ship's name is the RP-MES (red planet manned exploration station)

202406151020201.jpg

202406151021591.jpg

202406151024561.jpg

the inflatable habitational module then docked to the side but i forgot to take a pic of it lol.

LAUNCH 2

this launch consisted in getting the lander, wich is called the DAM (duna ascent module) to the mothership

202406151053151.jpg

202406151054101.jpg

202406151058311.jpg

sadly the lander was very heavy, and the mothership's COM was not stable. therefore i sent out an engineer to change the position of the docking ports, that way the lander was at the tip of the craft.
since everything was still unbalanced i sent another inflatable module to make everything more symmetrical and stable.

LAUNCH 3

as i said before, this launch was for the other inflatable module. i used the same rocket i used to send the lander to the mothership.

202406151130011.jpg

202406151130231.jpgà

after all those boring launches the ship was ready. if i had better tech i could have done everything in 1 launch but whatever. here are pics of the finished ship.

202406151132371.jpg

202406151148221.jpg

the ship will utlize aerobraking to save delta-v. The lander is not ready since i forgot to add parachutes and a ladder, but i will fix that next launch

GREAT NEWS FOR THE USSR!  (yes, 2 news in the same day, i know)
WE HAVE GOT TO DUNA! this mission was essential to study the enviornment for our future outpost. The mothership performed aerobraking in duna's atmosphere to save some dv.  We landed near the rover and docket back to the mothership

GREAT NEWS FOR THE USSR! We have finally got the 7 kerbals back to kerbin, the side boosters from the mothership detached, then the craft got back into kerbin's orbit and sent a separate craft to recover them.

Sadly, even tho this saving was going so good everything has to come to an end. I decided to get back to rp1, since i was getting bored of the stock system and i have arleady experience in rp1. Thank you guys for the support, yall give me motivation to keep playing the game.

thanks

Nice pics and great report. I'm just curious: Did you dock the plane to the Station or were the kerbals transferred via EVA?
