Space Station Reading

Recommended Posts

I've been working on a KSP mission based story with references to real space program events for fun. There are lots of interesting events documented for NASA spaceflight, but less for Russian spaceflight and very little that I've found (with a little searching) on space stations.

Does anyone have any suggested reference material for interesting things that have happened on board space stations, and possibly on Russian or non-NASA spaceflight as well?

Thanks for any ideas!

I recall reading years ago "Red Star in Orbit: Inside Story of the Soviet Space" by Jim Oberg. While I can't recall the contents in great detail (it's been nearly 10 years since I first read it) it may be useful to learn about the Soviet space program during the 1960's and 1970's. In particular the early Soyuz and Salyut programs.

I imagine some interesting and entertaining things have happened on Tiangong but it would likely be very hard to find accounts not extremely "curated"

Thanks for the suggestions.

The quail hatchlings experiment is a little unfortunate in that the birds were all euthanized (I think) at the end of the experiment, but definitely fits with the unusual things that happened in space that I am looking for.

I ordered a copy of Red Star in Orbit and Dragonfly has been added to my list.

The oral histories is a massive repository to start reading!

Yeah, I'd love to know more about the history of the Tiangong but China is not the most public with their activities.
