0XTempestX0
I just wanted to hang the fuel tanks, but they move too much from side to side.
HebaruSan
Separator at the top (use the '2' key to switch to the translation tool and slide the booster down after attaching), then a strut at the bottom. This way the separation force pushes the top away from the stack central as it passes by.
king of nowhere
hard to say what you want to do without pictures, but autostruts help with any problem of moving parts. if autostruts fail, regular struts work better.
Linkageless
If you really had a reason to need this, it is possible to strut a tank or solid booster onto a second radial decoupler. That way technically you are using two decouplers for the tank. The strut breaks immediately when the decouplers are activated, as you would expect, so functionally is no different from strutting directly without the second decoupler. As has been suggested, my preferred solution is to enable Advanced Tweakables in settings and then set Autostrut: Grandparent Part on the tank you are adding.
