So far 0.21 works fine, I agree the increased loading time rather annoying but otherwise Im good. Wish it wasn't giving others such a hard time.

Edit: Granted I DONT make any mods. Use a bunch, but dont make any yet.

Stan 0.21 works fine? Are you mad ? Maybe You have mega powerful computer ? You son of a magnate?.............applause! if

I just started playing the game 5 days ago, so I can't comment on the difference between recent releases. However, I can say I think there is a lot of work needed on making the game run faster and smoother all together. I have an overclocked i7 2600k, 16 GB of memory, and SLI 680's and I only get about 20 FPS when I am launching/flying a rocket. Having also looked at the current state of mods, I agree with you Devo. I wish they would work with the high profile modders and give you guys early access to the patches to help test and update your mods. Maybe they read forum threads like this and learn sooner rather then later. Just keep up the awesome work and don't give up on it all just yet. You guys do some awesome stuff and I probably wouldn't have bought the game if I hadn't seen what mods people such as yourself are making for the game to add so much content. It's like Minecraft, the vanilla game is great, but once you play using mods/modpacks you'll never play the vanilla game again.

Lol. Yes to the first for the most part except the load timed. To the second, some of my friends have said that, so maybe. To the third definitely, was my self early graduation/christmas present last year. And lastly pretty sure not.

holy crap 20fps with that rig? and I thought my pc wasn't up to par... thats bogus mate. What settings are you running on? even on my much lower spec system I can pull 40-50fps, but admittedly thats on a very low resolution with all the eye candy cut down.

I had a good play with the unreal 4 engine today, and I still need to change my pants... I really missed multithreading. I haven't had a single core CPU for I think 5 years now.. so why people are still working at engines that support single cores is beyond me (I direct that at the Unity developers, not Squad) for me it actually goes against Moore's law, which If you don't accept you have to be a fool (and if you are young I understand you not knowing what the hell I'm talking about) but in my short 36 year lifetime, I have seen Moore's law in effect most considerably. So, if technology is moving at the expected pace, why aren't we?

Sometimes playing KSP feels like driving a Ferrari powered by Estes model Rockets :)

I play with Anti-Aliasing 4x, Full Res texture quality, and everything else default. I shouldn't have any problems, I just think they haven't done a lot of optimization. http://i.imgur.com/vpqQuuY.jpg. I still enjoy the game and look forward to it's final release. I wouldn't call it an amazing game just yet, but I do think it has amazing potential. I just hate playing at times with such low frame rate on such a good PC. But mods like yours are what make the game worth playing in my opinion. I am really looking forward to flying the Space Eagle! Tried installing it and couldn't get engines to show up. Even more reason why I wish they would work with modders for new patches.

This game is a little behind the curve performance wise, My Desktop is i7 3820 @ OC 4.2ghz ,32gb of corsair dominators @2133 with 7970 top GPU. this is with a intel ssd and a rampage 4 extreme motherboard. And this game still will act funny.

Seeing as this is the secret 'express displeasure over 0.21' thread, I might as well chip in.

I love the new mun, and Kerbin looks downright gorgeous compared to what it was. New KSC buildings too look great. But I started playing with 0.20.2, about a week before 0.21 launched, and I too can attest that the loading times have gotten much worse, and escalate exponentially the longer I play or the bigger aircraft I try to launch.

I wasn't aware that KSP is a 32 bit application and isn't coded to prevent out of memory crashes once it swallows more than 3.1 gb of memory. I do now, and I'm running about three quarters of the mods I ran in 0.20.2.

All things considering, the new landscapes of Mun and Kerbin aren't worth the painful decrease in performance I'm experiencing. As much as I appreciate the new and granted pretty buildings and facilities at the Kerbal Space Centre, how long am I really going to stare and appreciate them? Less than five minutes. Unfortunately, I also run a STEAM copy so my old 0.20.2 version is overwritten, with no way of getting the old version, and not even going to bother with the extra long painful busywork of tirelessly searching for older 0.20.2 versions of mods.

Guess all that's left is to wait and hope Squad improves performance.

Sure is, the dev's never visit this thread so feel free to speak you mind :)

I haven't even gotten on the mun on 0.21.1 yet. As soon as I near the Mun, my game crashes. The memory thing has always been an issue, and the ironic thing is not many people know it won't attempt to use more than about 3.5gigs of ram before it falls over. "BUT I HAVE AN I7 WITH 16 GIGS OF RAM WHY IS KSP SO SLOW!!!" lol.. I read that so often.

I too loved the new buildings, but like you appreciated them for about 30 seconds and went back to playing the game, and now all they do is annoy me when these cars and tankers keep driving through the ship im trying to build - at least they could have bloody made the paths for the vehicles in the hangar bay go around the outside and not constantly through my work area, its really friggin annoying.

Hey devo, how's it going with the animated parts mod? The one with the engine/heatshield part?

Ok here's the deal..

They are/were intended to go with the MSI animator plugin thats due any day now.

The problem is, the plugin lags when you use it to control the animation on the new engines I made because the engines themselves are moving when the animation takes place, which KSP has a bit of a hissy fit over, so while the legs and command pods animations are supported by the new plugin, animating thrustTransforms is not advised - making only half the ship MSI animator compatible - so I either fix the bug (which I don't think we can, it's more of a unity thing) or release it and I think I'll just release it.

IVA is 90 percent done, truth be told I could release it now. I planned on finishing the IVA for that and for the Pegasus in one go, but the pegasus needs alot more work, so yeah I might get this IVA finished and pop it up for download.

Seeing as I only bought the game 5 days ago, I was unaware of it being a 32 bit game. Looking back now I wish I had done more research on the game before purchasing it. I don't think this is a game that should have been developed only on 32 bit. It is like Minecraft, it doesn't really work on only 3.5 gigs of memory. I really do hope they continue working on a 64 bit version. Otherwise, I don't see the game becoming what they hope it to be. It already seems to struggle if you download a couple of mods. I can only image what it will be like 6 months from now when they add more stuff to it if they don't update the game. We will seem I guess.

I really don't think that would be possible without making major changes to the way games are saved, as far as i know they don't have a timeline feature (or something that would be needed for this :/)

But what about a rover that looks like a delorean???????

no wayland parts in my screenshot.

That looks like the Stock parts delorean, yes I played with that too, all it was missing was a working flux capacitor.

So was there a point to actually posting that? ie how was i related to the conversation?

Devo, it isn't stock anything. It's my model, which I mentioned to you in private conversation a while back. Also, I assumed the point was clear, as it is a reply to the post directly before it, but ok yall.

Sorry, I have a pretty bad memory sometimes.. they also have such small inbox capacity here I have to clear out my mail and download it on regular basis, so I miss alot of previous conversations.

Was difficult to see in that low light. You should release it! If I ever properly do one I want to do it properly, baked textures etc.. it has to look A-grade, hey man its the Delorean! :)
