Challenging YouTubers! w/ HOCgaming and TheMattDennis - Submission Thread

Recommended Posts

using a one man cockpit or command pod to control vehicles; buzz tower at ksc2, plant a flag on minmus and circumnavigate any crater (smallest unless you want to be a show off) on the mün (must be a manned rover)

objectives can be completed in any order, but must use the same command pod (so modular plane/rocket or SSTO with something to dock with in orbit; unless you can find a loophole) in addition to landing it at KSC, real life time race (time warp allowed, and QS only in stable orbit or landing) rendezvous modules (orbiting or terrestrial, but not in the moons soi's) allowed to be set up beforehand.

Greetings to you guys.

Challenge ideas for you, I have:

-Build a kerballed rover that can hover on low-gravity bodies like Mun, Minmus or Gilly (no going into orbit)

and circumnavigate a crater of your choice, fastest time MET wins.

Rules: Plant a flag where you start in order to easily determine time.

Movement around the crater is only permitted if the craft does not touch the surface.

The craft must not leave the surface more than 20 meters (or shadow of the craft must always be in view).

Bonus for using the EVA seat.

Quicksaves not permitted after starting a lap.

-Build a carrier with a kerballed glider attached, achieve a 15000 m altitude

and at least 20000 m distance from KSC, then detach and glide back to the runway at KSC.

Rules: Only the Carrier may have engines.

The glider must use the EVA seat.

Quicksaves only permitted after reaching 15000 m altitude and 20000 m distance from KSC.

Quicksaves not permitted during the glide to KSC.

Bonus points if your glider can achieve a loop or an aileron roll.

First to land back on the runway wins.

build a jet or rocket powered car and strap a single kerbal in an external command seat on it.

the one who gets the fastest speed without derailing, exploding or loosing the kerbal and stopping safe after the drive wins.

the build and driving route is free, but you must start at the KSC.

I propose, this challenge! Get to the bottom of Dres's largest canyon.

You could do it however you want, first one to the bottom... lowest height... blah blah.

I know Matt isn't the best at interplanetary stuff... :) and it would take a long time, aaand you said that scenarios would work well, so here is a link to a scenario for it:

Disclaimer: I did not make this challenge first, a person made it a long time ago, then I forgot their name, and their challenge got lost in the forum wipe, so I'm recreating it sort of.

STAR SHIP BUILDING

Build a spacecraft that contains at least 15 Kerbals, 2 Landers, 4 probes, and has a working artificial gravity module.

Ship has to travel and get in orbit of one the Moons of Jool, and return to Kerbin with all the Kerbals.

Ship has to release the 4 probes into the atmosphere of Jool.

Both landers have to land on the selected Moon of Jool, and then return/dock again with the ship.

All Kerbals must survive the return to Kerbin in order to win.

Quick saves only aloud in Orbit.

Enjoy and Good Luck

Engineering challenge:

Get five orange tanks (full) into a 100 km orbit with the most remaining Delta V in 500 parts or less. One launch, no docking allowed.

Or, if that's too easy, just increase the payload until the rocket starts to fall apart...

Remembering Matt's Episode 12 when he mentioned the Reliant Robin, and remembering the t.v. show Top Gear, Build a Top Gear Reliant Robin Rocket. Whoever's flies the furthest into orbit while still being able to land and work as a Reliant Robin wins. And actually try to make it have the look of the iconically silly shuttle.

It was meee :3 (i posted the slightly more user friendly version of that challenge here earlier). But i's a hit or miss for youtube recording, as it has many small quirks that can make it funny or frustrating to watch/play.

The idea of going on one way trip to Dres to visit it's canyon very is cool thou. (it's a great experience especially if you happen to have a rover)

You don't really need to pay that much attention to launch windows if you use this http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ Most often then not there will be a transfer with Dv lower than 5000m/s available (minimum is around 3500 including plane change). The plane change burn at AN/DN will be 700m/s at most. And the landing will be around 500m/s.

That amount of Dv on 1Kerbal pod is doable with pretty small rocket. And with the new seats, bringing a rover can be easy too.

It could be fun, especially if you try to descent to the bottom of the canyon with whole craft :) And Dres gravity is small enough not to drain too much fuel to correct mistakes, but still significant unlike minmus/gilly.

Oh wow it was you, I had lots of fun with that challenge. :D

Challenge:

Build an aircraft in the space plane hangar and go around kerban, over both the north and south pole, without leaving the atmosphere. Fastest in game time wins! (The plane must be single stage, so no booster rockets to get it of the ground!)

Challenge: Land on all of Jools moons and plant a flag, you don't have to go back to Kerbin.

Rules: No RCS, no Poodle Engine, must launch from launchpad.

ONLY ONE QUICK SAVE! Must land in I.V.A. Mode, Must bring 5 Kerbals and if one dies you must restart, no quick save for the death of a Kerbal. No dev/debug console. (exception: Part Clipping.)

Any questions just message me on youtube: EFANHEW111!

Thanks.

A multiple design "BOOSTED FUEL DEPOT" challenge!

Launch the most basic fuel tank: FL-T400 into orbit above 100x100km.

Then using previous design *without removing* any parts, launch twice the amount of fuel into the same orbit. (bonus objective if you guys are confident in docking, would be to dock them together creating a fuel depot)

Repeat until time runs out, the most fuel in orbit wins.

note: as the FL-T400 holds 2 tons of liquid fuel and oxidizer, launches wold go like this: 2,4,8,16,32,64 [t]... 5th launch would need to get equivalent of whole orange fuel tank (32t of fuel) into orbit.

It should be fun seeing design grow and create problems that can't be easily fixed.
