Recommended Posts

Hi again guys :)

So after i built up my space station i have docked a tug on it, after a few more modules i wanted to undock the tug, but nothing happens wehen i press undock at the docking clamp.

i could click it the whole evening - nothing happens...

Any ideas to fix this?

Hello!

I had the same problem last night, trying to shuffle things at the station.

I had a drone lifter that had been built with a docked hitchhiker can (mun rescue, basically), and I was trying to leave the can on the station while using the drone for another job. It wouldn't let me detach the can from the drone while docked with the station, so in the end I detached from the station and dumped the can.

I tried this first without any luck, but it might be worth giving a shot. quick save (in case it goes wrong), go back to the space centre, go to the tracking station, go back to the station and try it again.

In my experience, which docking port you click on matters - I'm not sure if that's a general true-ism or not.

To detach a vessel from a space station, if I click on the station's docking port, nothing will happen. If I click on the docked vessel's docking port, the vessel will undock successfully.

This is, I think, only a problem when you have two or more vessels docked to a single central station.

This is a known issue (at least I think it's known!) I get it every now and then, and it's highly annoying. The first time it happened I felt like throwing the computer accross the room. I searched for solutions everywhere and the best I found was editing the save file, which was hard.

Now when it happens, I have a much simpler solution. For me, it's only ever happened when I use a tug to dock something else and then try to undock the tug. To fix it, what I do is undock the part I want docked, from the station. Back up a bit to reset the docking ports, make sure it's still lined up (normally will be after undocking), and start moving forward again. The trick now is to undock the tug before the part you are docking docks, and let the momentum carry the part on to dock by itself. It's important not to time accelerate while the dock is happening, or it messes it up and could end very badly.

Works every time for me, except the one time I time accelerated. Also, I always quicksave before trying this, just incase I miss :)

This was an extremely annoying bug for me when I was building my space station. I was docking a set of 4 orange fuel tanks which was being propelled by a tug. Once I docked it, I couldn't undock the tug. The only solution was to undock the fuel tanks and then undock the tug and redock the tanks, but that would be difficult because the tanks have no probe or control and the station is asymmetrical, so I had to use the tug to push the tanks into the station without docking to them. It wasn't helped by the lag and the game crashing. :(
