NASA Tweet

1. Update KSP to allow asteroid capture missions.

2. Every time the NASA mission comes up, say "Think this is cool? Try it yourself in our game!"

3. ????

4. Profit!

You could always get the game to pre-insert them into random orbits as an asteroid-shaped rocket component so you could "dock" with them using something like the quantum struts mod to catch them.

It worries me that Nasa employees play KSP.

I have friends who drive rather badly after playing certain racing games for a few hours...this can only lead me to think that after a few hours of playing KSP, the ISS will be de-orbited for the atmospheric re-entry effects.

Also, Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck Kerbals with a nuke to blow up the asteroid. While we're at it, throw in a Steve Buscemi one that's capable of riding on rockets.

Just imagine how cool all those solar arrays would look. Edited by EnragedPlatypus

Followed by a futile attempt to hold down f9.

engraverwilliam: the problem is that the stock game still isnt real enough for them to be actually considered "interchangeable designs"

i mean, there are N1 replicas which make it to orbit!

The N1 was actually a workable design, limited by poor engineering, was it not?

one of the test stages went into an uncontrollable spin, i dont think thats pure engineering fault

That sounds like an absolute engineering fault! 'engineered not to uncontrollably spin' - spins - FAIL.

;D

EDIT: For those of us who are at work and have twitter blocked, can anybody tell us what the tweet actually said?

SQUAD totally should talk to NASA about getting official "Approved by NASA" sticker. How cool would that be? And NASA could show KSP demo to visitors at their science fairs. A real rocket scientist helping you build your first rocket, and put it in orbit? Woohoooo!

No problem.
Hey @KerbalSpaceP, interested in exploring an asteroid with us? Take a look at the plan here! http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/asteroids/initiative/index.html

EDIT: Damn, beaten to the punch.

Hah. Turns out the asteroid is planning on doing the same thing.

Its nice that NASA are getting involved in one of the biggest space communitys but i am slightly worried if they play the game. :P

You know, NASA is an 8 hour a day job. We do other things in our spare time.

It's not like we spend the whole day playing video games. I, for one, also spend my time watching Scott Manley's videos.

I have NEVER heard NASA endorse ANY video game!

Does "creating" == "endorsing"?

My computer has a "Critical Space Item, Handle With Care" sticker on the side of it.
