Kosmo-not, hello Chico Cali, I lived in Los Molinos for several years, 1972-1977 went to Lassen View Elementary in the early seventies. Yea, I'm that old and still playing games. Still have some lingering family (I think) in Chico. Nice video. Holding off on mods, gonna wait and see just what is added to this game. I may not need mods. I'm sure the DEVS are looking at what modders are creating and the popularity of these mods and may incorporate similar into the game. So patience is a virtue. Just wait and see. Besides, if I start now with mods, I may have to waste time updating them with every KSP update, just find that KSP has added to the game what I wanted in a mod. Anyway, the music choice was great for these cinematics.

Also, even on ion engine, how could you have enough deltaV?

Ps: damn, still have a knot in my stomach.

Edit: watched it again on a proper screen and realized it was a probe and not the 2001 Space Odyssey style cockpit from DSM (silly phone screen).

Also read the description on Youtube and great use of slingshots (Duna, Eve, Jool, Moho and so on).

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to watch it again.

can you explain how you did that?

for example, I'm struggling to understand how to fine tune the direction I will be travelling when I get an encounter with a planet - that is, the position of my ship in space, in respect to that planet.

so far it's always been casual, and I can't get a decent slingshot if by the time I enter, say, Duna's SOI, I find myself travelling in a radial inward->outward direction relative to it.

I did something similar. With 6 ion probes, i went to every planet and dropped a probe, but i used stock parts and liquid fuel for the probe transport from planet to planet.

Doing the same at the moment...grand tour with an ion SSTO (and Kethane refueling capability...because I need that fuel to actually land).
