Edit : edveen, have you tried flying your last plane without the top wings but keeping the tailfins and delta-deluxes on top of the first wing surface?

I have been messing with a few different designs but it seems that making 2 layers of wings prevents the plane from doing gymnastics. I have made stable planes that only have one wing before but I rarely know why the things I make in this game work, just that they do.

And dammit I can't get anything near zarakon's time. Only thing that got close was a plane that I accidently* smashed into the KSC runway at some 300m/s.

*may or may not be a lie

I should be on the alternative board not the normal one. My pizza cratered the runway fairly well. Not so much for the soft landing.

I'm not sure I can go any faster but it's still fun trying. I've got reverse thrust and VTOL at the moment and doing the whole thing in cockpit view. I'm getting from 300 to 30m/s in under 2 seconds 3:43 is the best I've managed.

Awesome first-kerbal-perspective view, and reverse thrust/wheel swiveling! What is the command pod called and what mod do the reverse thrusters come from or how does that work?

It's a kappa-pod, it doesn't come with the flight computer (I borrowed that from B9 Aerospace). And it's the huge mk4-fuselage-system engine that has thrust reverse - and it's assignable to an action group, just press a button and you stop, then press it again and you go. I wouldn't use too much thrust when you switch to reverse
