  1. 1. Do you use MechJeb?

I use it all the time. Great info, great functionality. The new version has great taste and is less filling. I'm a better engineer than pilot, and it's not like the real astronauts sit in their capsule with the flight controls in one hand while they write out burn calculations on the back of a napkin with the other.

I agree with ruiluth, to me, it's more fun to plan missions and build rockets that try hitting the right spot on the navball. Especially if you fly a lot of similar missions (like building a station in LKO). Except mechjeb is not reliable all the time so you need to control what it's doing. I find MJ 2 strange. I like that it's been packed into smaller box, so you don't have to put those funny animated parts. But some functions I think got more complicated, or more simplified, like the randevouz AP, I can't ONLY match planes, I need to wait for it to match planes and turn off AP..

Some people find piloting more fun, some people find planning more fun, there's everything for everyone! And that's why KSP is such a great game!

I have it on every craft that isn't for a challenge that prohibits it. Not so much because I use it for everything but because it's annoying to not have it when I want it. Keeping a symbol on the navball centered during a 45 minute burn just isn't fun enough to keep me interested.

On the other hand, about the only thing I use it for that I can't do manually is accurate landings at non-equatorial locations. I'm just not good at that. On the other hand, for most other things, if I really care about it, I'll either do it by hand or check the maneuver node before mechjeb executes it, because I do tend to do better than mechjeb on stuff like that.

Absolutely. With the exception of landing and docking (and even then I'll still occasionally use Smart A.S.S. to help with alignment) flying isn't really that exciting for my any more. So, instead of going hands on with everything I just play KSP as a space program sim instead of a flight sim. I use MJ as the go-between between me and my (mostly unmanned) ships, instead of me on the controls I issue commands to the flight computer and let it do its thing.

The extra data displays are also a huge help, I don't have the time or patience to add up everything in the VAB manually, and the faster I get a ship in the air the faster I'm back to running my missions so taking a bunch of guesswork out of my ship is a big deal.

I've never used it. Frankly, I'd feel like a cheater if I did. I know it's a great tool, but I don't want to make it too easy on myself.

Edit: I should probably add that I have nothing against MechJeb users. They're just a different style of engineers. Those who use MechJeb are trying to get the least amount of Kerbal casualties, while the rest of us say "hmm, this rocket looks pretty, why don't we see what it does?" *press spacebar* *explosion on launchpad* :) I like to use actual experimentation rather than having the system do it for me, that's all.

Edit again: You'll notice the large amount of black "casualty" stripes on my medals. The fact that I've never used MechJeb is probably somehow related to this.
