my first manned attempt at a mun landing and return, also my first successful landing on the mun, the Thor I. I didn't make any screenshots in reentry, i was kinda busy killing soem delta V with whats left from the tanks (i hit the athmosphere as a direct hit from mun, about 4500 m/s upon reentry)

Ah, i didnt do a screenshot with the successful rocket, hence the different names. I forgot to install something (i think it was the solar panels for the lights) and had to end the flight at ascension.

A few shots from my first landing back in 0.18.x (don't remember if it was .2 or .4 at the time):

Didn't catch any from the return trip, unfortunately, so you'll have to take my word for it that Jebediah and Bill got back safely.

I have landed on the Mun, Minmus and even moons outside the Kerbin system many times, but I didn't really make screenshots of it, so here is the last screenshot of a Mun landing I had laying around (0.17):

And a more recent Minmus landing (0.18), including a system check on an old probe (the first probe I ever made, actually):

Here's my Mun lander/return vehicle:

I don't have any return photos, and I'm much to busy getting my Mun mining operation up and running to recreate it. But as you can see, I've got more than enough fuel and thrust to get back. And that's 4 radial parachutes on the top, so I didn't 'splode when I got back home. Man, it was only two weeks ago, but it seems like months ago...

This Giant rocket for 2 Kerbals?

If you click on the pics (links to album) you can see why it needs to be a giant rocket. :P

It's a rover outpost, designed as a semi-permanent base with a 2 man rover attached underneath. The Mun trip was just a test run.

OT:

The actual mission was to go to Ike as seen here...

Dual Duna/Ike Mission

and the Rover Outpost Mk2 here...

Return to Duna Missions
