A few years of ROTC training, didn't make the cut for officer training, then went for basic training... and a previously-unnoticed medical condition reared its ugly head and forced me to get a discharge before I completed it.Disappointing, too, since my parents were both military, and I'd always wanted to join since I was young. So it goes.I did get a chance to ride in a C-130, though. It was an interesting experience.EDIT: The F-104 was the Starfighter, an American-built plane, though Canada licensed their own version as the CF-104. The CF-105 was supposed to be the Avro Canada Arrow, which never actually entered production but looked like it would have been a pretty cool plane.
