Small question about Eeloo.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Apologies for starting a new thread for this tiny question, but i wasn't sure where to ask and it's been bugging me for a while, does Eeloo have anything to do with the Spanish word for ice (Hielo) which sounds quite similar?

I looked on wiki, i google searched and found nothing, so i resort to posting, i know it's not worth a new thread but you know when you can't get the curiousity out of your head? i'd love to know.

I guess nobody really knows why planets have the names they do, other than Pol who's name was discussed on one of the live streams :P

Your theory about the name of Eeloo is pretty convincing though, seeing as squad is based in Mexico.

I'm not sure, but the devs are from Mexico where they speak spanish so it's possibility.

Not related to Eeloo but as an example to spanish references: Duna is the spanish for Dune, and that fits for a desertic planet like Duna.

The only other body that inspires any name references would be Ike, as a reference to Ike Newton.

On the subject of Planet names, could Eve's name come from how similar it is to Kerbin (similar size, gravity etc.)?

It seems obvious to me that Eve (in mythology, the first woman) is thematically named after Venus (in mythology, the goddess of beauty and love, embodying the "perfect" woman).

I thought Duna was more to do with Dune

Laythe - orbits Jool the quickest of all moons, twirling round and round like a lathe.
