Hitchhiker storage containers?

Recommended Posts

I can't get Kerbals to leave the Hitchhiker Storage containers. Someone told me to left click on the crew hatch, but that isn't working. Yes, I do have Kerbals in it. I just don't want them to be stuck forever... :( This is really getting to me.

To reiterate 1001sd's question: Are you on a mac?

If you are on a mac running Snow Leopard or lower, there is a known issue with this. I believe the workaround is to not only be running in windowed mode, but that you actually have to click away from the KSP window (or maybe even put focus on a different program), and then click back onto the ksp window. I have also seen people suggest simply spam-clicking the hatch as a solution. Maybe you have to do both; I'm not really sure. Poke around the forum a little bit. I'm sure there's at least one thread on the topic. Probably several

Their image disappears from the portrait area on all releases. Try having a probe body or manned capsule on the storage container. Also note that the storage container does NOT behave like a command pod at all.

Do you see the "Crew Hatch" popup text before you click? From what I understand the condition is the same, so if you see the popup it should work, and if you don't, the game doesn't think you're mousing over the right spot.

You're not doing anything wrong; as iamaphazael mentioned, it's a known issue with OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), it doesn't happen in 10.7 or 10.8. The bug report might not be public anymore due to some new categorisations on the bug tracker, but it's still filed.

It can be worked-around by clicking on another window/application, then the next click on the KSP window / hatch will work, but you must leave fullscreen to do this. If your machine meets the requirements for OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), the upgrade is worth it, the only downsides are that spaces must be in a line rather than a grid and it doesn't have the ability to emulate PPC binaries like 10.6 does.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
