Couple of noob questions

Recommended Posts

Finally got a kerbal to the Mun and Minmus (Woot!) but how do I use my jet pack? Also I was pressing random keyboard buttons and now when I move forward he goes in the direction I'm facing with the camera but if I try to go left with "A", then he side steps rather than turning and walking forward in THAT direction (left). How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you already have the jetpack activated (with the r key) if he's side-stepping. Use Shift and Control on the left to thrust upwards or downwards (and a-s-w-d for left-back-forward-right).

and you can only use it in the air. Or vacuum I guess.

On low gravity worlds you can actually lift off from the surface by holding SHIFT, I like to do that and pretend my kerbals are Boba Fett :P

If the gravity is low enough, you can actually make orbit using only the jetpack. Flying without a navball is a challenge though. I know it's possible on minmus, I think it might barely be doable from Mun as well.

One thing i learned a while ago is that if you hold your left mousebutton while in eva you will tilt your kerbal. That means you can turn your little guy upsidedown to reach ladders etc or just hover around using the shift key and tilting to break and turn. Lots of fun

Or if you turn upside down before smashing into the ground you might survive, too
