At last

After almost a week of trying and many blown up rockets a few dead Kerbals (those were mainly on the ground as bits of duff space ship rained down on them). One space station which is now just a load of junk floating about. I managed to dock with space station Mk 2.

Not much to all you experienced Kerbalnaunts but to me a large victory:cool:

Next stop Mun, I wonder how many Kerbals will die in the cause:wink:

Congrats :) Docking is very hard, I got my first docking yesterday, around the mun, and half of it on the dark side with no lights (sucked soo much) I'm still happy about it, and I don't wanna undock it XD

But if you can't design a good rocket to get to the mun the stock craft Kerbal X is (as far as I know) able to get to the mun and back, but you might want to add an sas to it :)

Yes, congrats. Docking is difficult from what I've read on here. Took me about a week of trying to get a little satellite around Eve, and got all excited when I finally made it. I haven't tried docking yet. Heck, I haven't even put a Kerbal up yet, been putting satellites in orbit to learn about fuel amounts, orbiting, getting to another planet etc...

Docking is likely the hardest thing to do in this game. My first attempt took me nearly an hour(just the docking attempt none of the rondevous) and I wasn't sure how I did it when I was done. Eventually you'll get it, then you'll be creating huge space stations ISS style...just because.

Maybe it's just me but it's not that hard to dock in the game at all. It just requires patience and awareness of how you're moving.

Please don't try to minimize peoples' accomplishments. Are you really saying that docking isn't one of the most difficult things to do in the game? It incorporates many aspects of the game and seeing them all come together in a successful dock can be very satisfying, especially the first time.

I think I'll use a probe for the first attemp. :D

This is a good idea, small probes are really easy to get into orbit and fly to the Mun with. This lets you focus on learning how to do orbital insertions and land without having to spend so much time worrying about having enough fuel or how to make complex, multi-stage, descent and ascent vehicles.

And docking is definitely one of the more difficult aspects of the game; there are different issues to consider with almost every different craft you make. Getting the RCS thrusters properly placed around, or at, the center of mass helps more than anything, I think. But it can be tough to figure out when you only have a partial fuel load, or you are moving several components around. My only other advice is to do everything with CAPS lock on, and always work in the chase view so that your movements are always consistant and predictable.

Thanks for all the messages. I now have satellites round Kerbin, Mun and Minmus. Also sent a Kerbal to Mun didn't land as I misjudged the amount of fuel. Still i got 'im back in one piece.

Next time I will land on Mun and come back again (fingers crossed).

First of all, Sadron never did minimize anyone's accomplishments. The whole "Maybe it's just me" part should clarify that. I also sort of have to agree. I realize this might be hard for most people, but not everyone experiences the same amount of difficulty in the same tasks. That is pretty normal.

If you managed to dock then I think your Mun orbiting/landing will be easy for you.

Seriously, docking requires a lot of control and precision. I've went to Mun, Minmus, landed on both and I still can't dock ;.;

But it might be only me so good luck

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree with you. Any time someone says "X is really tough for me and I finally managed to do it!" and you come along saying "X isn't tough for me." it's minimizing it in my opinion. It's not like there was any constructive message in the post like "It's not really tough for me, but I can really appreciate your achievement". All they were doing was poopooing on the OP as I saw it.
