Well look no further than the X-200 "Laythe Explorer!" (Warranty void if used in atmosphere without oxygen)

This is probably the best plane I have ever built, it is easy to control even without the Avionics Package online! It can recover from the worst of flameout-induced flat spins,

Cruising Altitude: 12000m

Top Speed at Altitude: >800m/s (Encountered on an attempted trip around Kerbin, the max you will probably see is around 600-650)

Takeoff Speed: ~100m/s

Optimum Landing Speed: ~50-60m/s

Range: ~2000 km (Approximately halfway around Kerbin)

Fuel: 1050 L

Consumption Rate: ~0.35 L/s

Well, the simplest way is to strap it to a rocket, or if you want to do it in style, I'd go for the interplanetary ring.

Indeed, making a plane is pretty easy. Making a space plane is the tricky part.
