Caught a ecplise!

Idk how rare this is in KSP. But i was testing a rover design i made and noticed the ecplise behind me. Thought it was bad-ass looking.

It's not that rare because the Mun's orbit around Kerbin and Kerbin's orbit around the sun are equatorial.

1st one i seen from the ground (although i never looked in the direction of the sun from the ground)

see them a lot in orbit (then again i play too much probably)

I saw my first eclipse a few days ago, I was gonna put a picture in the cool KSP pictures thread but then I noticed almost every second picture on that page had an eclipse in it.

You get them all the time really, because the Mun is on the same plane as Kerbin. Every orbital period, actually, which happens to be 1 day 14 hours.

I noticed it got a little darker on the surface as the moon passed but i didn't have anything in orbit to look from above.

When you think about it, catching an eclipse is rare because most of our focus is on launching or directing a craft, usually in timewarp mode. When it happens like this, it is a moment to treasure. I'd love to see a sun occultation by Jool from Laythe. That would be pretty epic.

If you mean a shadow that you can see from space...no. But your solar panels stop working during an eclipse, I can tell you that.

That happened with the solar panels on the Orion. They stopped working.
