Megabulb25
I Finished my first station (I say I finished it, it was really mechjeb:sticktongue:). It is called the MSOKS (megabulb.co space operations kerbin station)Here is mechjeb adding the last module, the MSOKS docking hub. (for docking my crew capsules)Once that was docked, i sent up the crew! (the first wolf crew capsule i sent must'v had a malfunctioning mechjeb, because i couldn't access the RCS, so i could not dock. I accidentally pressed space when trying to dock myself, so i had to EVA George, Danny and Lubo into the station instead. but later i sent up Jeb and Bob in another wolf crew capsule, and they docked fine. Here is the MSOKS all finished, but perhaps i will add some more later. If you were wondering, the station is mainly stock, except for mechjeb. I was also using the chatterer mod and crew manifest when i made this. sndrtj
I have been fiddling with ion powered satellites. I fitted a KPS probe with an ion engine, and launched it to low Kerbin orbit with my Simple Launch System (only meant to put stuff in LKO). The probe was then put into extremely low Munar orbit (~10km) using the ion engine. It still has more than enough fuel left to make it back to Kerbin. This IPttM (Ion Probe to the Mun) concept was highly succesful. It has shown itself to be very efficient manner to put small probes into Munar orbit, while not requiring anything more than a modified LKO satellite system. Once money gets introduced to Kerbin, that should be highly prized :-). A Munar satellite network can now be constructed for the same costs as the (e)KPS system costed. This will facilitate a future Munar colony. soulsource
In the last few days I sent the first wave of ships towards Eve. It includes 10 tankers that each ideally should carry one full Kerbodyne S3-14400 tank to low Eve orbit, the future Eve lander, and a rover, all unmanned.Meanwhile Jeb got bored and made a bet that it'd be possible to lithobrake a fall from 650 m above KSP... Well, the other Kerbonauts didn't believe him, so he manned the test flight:
Tw1
Speaking of Eve, today, in KSP, I did some photography. Excluding non-forsceen circumstances, the next installment of my AAR (story) Oceans of Eve/City on The Mun, will be here later this week. I hope to use my 3000th post for it. You all better turn up to read it, k?Also, this kind of happened: Edited June 29, 2014 by Tw1
HavelockVetinari
Today I did my first successful aero braking manoeuvre around Duna and went on to land without a hitch. Well not strictly true I landed hard, the lander bounced and tipped over. Lesson learned and F9 had me back in orbit about to start my descent burn. Changed my landing site to a more interesting location and the second attempt went without a problem. Bill and Bob are now merrily careening around the red dunes of Duna in their ANT rover. Good thing I had 3 solar panels on the thing because I lost 2 when it flipped coming down a slope too fast.

soulsource
Second post from me for today. Jeb took a weekend trip. With a plane. To the Mun...To be honest, I had to retry the landing after the return to Kerbin a few times until the plane made it in one piece. Rus-Evo
I have been playing for about a year and I stranded Jeb in Even orbit about 6-9 months ago. My rescue mission to finally get him back in the rotation went well until I decided that since a 41,000m Kerbal aerobrake was too high and chose 28,000 which left him and Bill stranded in a mountain range on the other side of the world.YAHOO RESCUE MISSIONS ARE THE MOST FUN!!!Also I designed planes and tried to land on that very very high pointy peak in the western mountain range. HavelockVetinari
@ Frank-G. That is a very cool ship. Not the prettiest thing I've ever seen but very sci-fi in a gritty & realistic, Arthur C Clarke / Ridley Scott way. I like it a lot. What Mod are you using for the giant heat Shield? I've just managed a landing on Duna so my next challenge will be something a bit further afield. Are you using deadly re-entry?
RogueMason
Well, I nearly dropped an F-Bomb as Tylo screwed me over on my way to Bop. I had to expend double the fuel I originally intended because the patched conics didn't detect the Tylo intercept. That's the second time that Tylo has messed with me on my Grand Tour Also, I had a very minor case of nearly slamming into Bop at supersonic speeds. Fortunately, Bill saved the ship; this would have been an act of Jeb, but Jeb's still exploring Laythe, so it fell to the only other officer on the bridge of my ship. HavelockVetinari
After successes on the Mun and Minmus decided to try for Duna with a lander and (manned.... er Kerbaled" Rover. MK4 Duna lander was renamed Valkyrie MK4.Realised that to send such a large Lander / Rover to Duna and back I would need a decent sized Launch vehicle. Lander can just about make Kerbin orbit by itself. I realised that I'd also need to refuel before making the trip or the boys would not be coming home.Testing the lander. After a few tweaks, waited for correct planetary alignment and sent Valkyrie 4 to rendezvous with my tanker. Refuelling in Low Kerbin OrbitOff to Duna, Kerbin and the Mun disappearing fast. realised that my craft is lacking in Solar panels, only the lander has panels and if they get knocked off I may be in trouble. Oh well too late now.Approaching DunaAerobraking at 14000m not much pyrotechnics as this atmosphere is very thinBob's IVA view of the Duna surfaceOn approach Ike rising under Kerbol.Final approach hopefully we'll make it over the lip of the Canyon Wall.Landed! Indy
Finalizing my Early Minmus Base, 6/29/14See, I started my 'base' with just a mobile science lab, but realized, since it is in such a wide lakebed, that it was a perfect spot for a more defined extra-terrestrial base of sorts. I already had the science lab and radio tower in place, but now I needed a Command Center to organize operations on Minmus (I haven't fully explored it yet)Here's the Command Center, atop my SSR-3-H. I use this booster as my First Stage, Second Stage, and Maneuvering rocket all rolled in one. I took one out of Scott Manly's book and used the cross-fuel concept to have full thrust while keeping the primary, center rocket completely fueled up.Off we go! Good to see Jebediah's enjoying the ride!LZ Douglas in sight, and beginning the retrograde burnAfter some tweaking, here she is on the ground, with Jeb taking a peek outside. So yeah, thats what I did today. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I'd love to hear em. I've only had KSP for 5 days, so any information would be awesome! Thanks for reading! Vastin
Early going, one of my Mun orbital research shots came up just a tad short on fuel while trying to return to Kerbal - fuel ran out with a return Periapsis of ~95,000 - a permanent highly ecliptic orbit.Thought about that for a few minutes, realized that my now empty rocket stage and attached science suite definitely count as reaction mass, lined them up and decoupled at Kerbal Apoapsis - that dropped my orbit to about 65,000. I might clip just enough kerbal atmosphere on each pass that my orbit would decay in several passes at that rate, but poor Jebadiah would be up there for weeks in all likelihood. Time for plan B.What is Plan B? Well, this is early Kerbal, and these plucky pioneers aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, so good old Jeb did what any space pilot would do in his position - he got out and pushed. About 20 seconds of retro-braking from his suit jets up at ~8,000,000km apoapsis was enough to push the capsule's periapsis down to 25km - easily low enough for a comfortable re-entry insertion. Drinks are on Kerbal command when Jeb gets back.
