What did you do in KSP1 today?

i discovered that the Z-pinch engine uses LHe3. NOT deuterium. and i learned a pro tip. if you need to lithobreak, use the giant fusion fuel tanks from FFT. i slammed the fuel module of my WIP interplanetary cruiser into the ground near the KSC at ~200m/s and it just bounced. the first tank took just about the full force of the EXTREMELY heavy fuel module (~300 tons) slamming into the planet. the only things that impacted before were a Clampotron sr. and a 3.75-2.5 meter adapter from SSPXr.

At last, I made the thing I wanted so much. So this flying boat is what you'd call a forward operating base -- it's built to self-sufficiently explore all of Laythe. Naturally, Laythe being an ocean world, it's a seaplane - anything else would be much too whimsical (as if making essentially a flying aircraft carrier is not).

Notice that the floats end at the center of the fuselage - much like landing gear must not be placed much too far away from the center of mass so that the plane can rotate on takeoff, so the floats too must end early to allow rotation (actually, buoyancy is much more messed up that this, but at least it works).

Now above the fuselage there's a bit of a flight deck. It's for launching the air wing complement. You can fit up to 4 aircraft in the cargo hold, but the usual complement is two - "Ogre" tiltjet VTOL for aerial recon and "Snub 3" rapid ascent spaceplane (pictured) as low orbit shuttle. The craft are moved to and from the flight deck via the elevator in the rear section of the fuselage (see spoiler for details). Despite humble size, launching fixed-wing aircraft is rather easy as the flying boat can easily reach 50 m/s by itself. Landing is more difficult, but possible - I usually land on first try.

Finally, the forward section includes the ramp for deploying rovers on ice sheets. The usual complement is a mining rover, a tractor and a science buggy. A mining rover can technically indefinitely refuel the operating base which is of course orbit-capable.

i built a truck.

to clarify: i built a prototype regolith extractor truck.

oh, another thing: a while ago on a different Gamedata folder, i got something unidentified whipping around kerbin at a murderous speed. couldn't select it, as far as i could tell, it was just an orbit.

Today during testing of the 'Brokkr' Light Mining Rover, German Kerman got his head barbequed in the flame of a Spark.

After this horrible accident I decided to modify a 'Gladr' Light Lander to serve as interplanetary transfer stage instead.

It can be refueled by 'Brokkr', but the way of connecting the two looks sketchy

I am tempted to use a robotic refueling arm for more flexibility. Should I?

i was at niedon looking for an asteroid, i found it and it was shaking absurdly hard, then it split. CELLSTEROID!!!!:D

for a more logical explanation(for kerbal, at least) might it have been two asteroids that spawned inside eachother?

It has come to my attention that on a practice apollo mission today, I left a lander orbiting the mun. I could just de-orbit or terminate it, but that isn't very fun, it it? Instead, I'm planning a Σ-Venus™ test mission to refuel it and give it a second life!
