Good free screen recorder

I don't have a lot of experience with it (just one two-hour streaming session), and I have no idea how it might perform with KSP, but Open Broadcaster Software (http://obsproject.com/) is free. It is intended for live streaming, but it does let you save to the hard drive so it might work.

This. I've used it as a screen recorder and it seems to work just fine.

Unless you have something like a quad-core cpu and an amazing pc, don't try to use FFSplit. My computer can run 200part ships at reasonable graphics settings (although not 550 part ones at lowest settings), but FFSplit is way too intensive. Even with 240p video.

Actually, after some searching, I found a good free screen recorder called CamStudio ( http://camstudio.org/ ). It's not the most developed program, and unfortunately it has a file size limit of 2 GB. I'll still go look at Open Broadcaster Software though. I don't want to pay any money so I won't be using fraps.

EDIT: I went and tried OBS, and it works far, far better than anything else I have tried since I first looked at screen recording software. I will definitely be using it unless i run into a major problem that eats my computer.

I'm using MSI Afterburner for recording. It's originally an application for monitoring and overclocking your graphics card, but it features video capturing at decent file sizes with multiple options for your record settings.

Does anyone know a good screen recording software for OS X?

You can do screen video capture with Quicktime, inbuilt you dont need an external program. The framerate is not that fantastic (not on high paced 3d games) but for free, its fine.

I'm another person who uses fraps but be warned, it DOES eat hard drive space fast.

Also it gives you the bad news on how little framerates we get at the moment (due to KSP not being optimised currently).

A friend at work recommended Screencast-o-matic. I'll be trying this out in the next few days.
Now that I've tried it out, be aware Screencast-o-matic free version puts a watermark in the lower left corner, and has a 15-minute limit.

However, MSI Afterburner is working quite nicely. It took me a while to find the video recorder. (Click on "settings", video, then assign a hotkey to start/stop recording.) Otherwise , it's been great so far.
