KSB for Android? Unity§d now offers free Android/IOS tools

Yeah, I'd think if the devs get the time for it (definitely not while KSP is still in full on development!), they could do the whole app thing, maybe only 2d like the first couple of KSP iterations or so..

Bottom line, I don't see it happening now.

AFAIK there has NEVER been a 2d iteration of KSP... unless you have a 2d build that you can share with us then I am EXTREMELY doubtful that it ever happened

I would kill for a KSP VAB app for android. Don't really need to run missions, but it would be awesome to be able to assemble stuff on my phone!

Yep, this would be my dream

thats another good idea, cause i like the thought of lying on my couch designing spaceships!

i would think that tegra2/3 devices should be plenty powerful? thngs like the asus transformer line?

or maybe it would be possible to outsource the physics / flight part to a cloud server?

i think most ksb players would be OK if the andoird version used very basic gfx, as long as the design and possible flight part work well.

so you could pan around and see to the sides, but the flying was still restricted to the XY plane. You couldn’t go forwards or backwards, only up or down, left or right.

Harvester did a series of blogs a while back that showed off his early work on the game (before the first public release); and, in fact, the first couple of proof-of-concept versions were 2d.

Some newer phones might be able to run KSP like the Galaxy S4, it has 1.9 GHz Quad or 1.6 GHz Octa and 2 GB RAM, so...maybe at the lowest graphics settings since it would most likely overheat.

No not really. Its all about transistors. The quad core cpu used in most modern cell phones is no match for single core i5. The IPC in cell phone cpu is many times lower than its counter part on desktop market. To put things into perspective. The Samsung Galaxy S3s cpu has a rough transistor count of 26,000,000. The i7 from last year has a rough transistor count of 1,400,000,000. The i7 from 2008 has 731,000,000.

Dont believe all the media hype. Mobile gaming will never take over from consoles and PCs. Even though mobiles cpu increase in power each year so does the desktop versions. It would be physically impossible to put a big enough chip in a cellphone to be able to play modern type games with all their fidelity.

I've run the VAB through a remote desktop app on my nexus 7 and my HTC One. It works great for me! Better on WI-FI, but works over my 3G too. No need to actually run it on the device if the PC does all the complex calculations - does take a bit of messing with, because gestures don't work great.

I've also tried this. What software do you use? I tried teamviewer and Splashtop but the lagg over 3g and even is Wifi is just unbearable for me.

In the back of my head, I had expected something along the lines of the Flash version of Portal.

Really, I'd settle for some kind of Kerbal mini game. Maybe the Kerbalizer could be ported over to mobile, though I've never used it. It's not already, is it?

I could see the mod community producing something. I doubt the Dev team would devote the time/resources to some mobile project while the community is hungry for core game updates.

what people dont understand about phone gaming is how limited and wonky the controls are, especially when they are soft buttons layed OVER the game. then its **** controls AND you cant see the screen.

i would just get a laptop that you can actually DO things with. just my opinion though.
