how much does a kerbal weigh

bear in mind that if a kerbal is inside a ship they are counted as massless
As I recall, somebody did some testing, way, WAY back, and found that a crewed capsule accelerated more slowly under thrust than an empty one. That was many versions ago and may have changed, but I think crewed capsules do weigh more.

a while back somebody calculated the weight of a Kerbal at ~30 kg.

with the knowledge base now reporting it at 90 kg while in EVA, this puts the weight of the EVA suit itself at 60 kg - two times the guy inside :)

Can't remember what i was doing but I've noticed that in 0.19.1 as well.

@ Fel thanks for the precise value :). Wonder why this little buggers became so heavy. Maybe they started hiding extra snacks inside space suits!

Re: what Nao said. I had noticed MechJeb overestimating delta-V when I had tiny little craft with Kerbals hanging on to ladders, and it seemed like the 30-35 kg range was about right in previous versions. And though the info window rounds to 0.09 t, I have seen craft that get rounded up when a Kerb gets in a seat as if it was 0.1, so 0.09375 it is!

Francesco, they didn't "calculate" it... KerbalEVA had a mass of 35kg

Now it has a mass of mass = 0.09375 (93.75kg)

so that weight already included the EVA suit, and now it's higher. hmmm. but where did you get the exact values?

93.75kg = 206.683 pounds (for the civilisations that don't use metric)

What do they EAT?

EDIT: Just realised, spacesuits are heavy.

So far there's only been one answer here, and it's not in SI units. The question was the weight, not the mass. On Kerbin, it's about 920 N. On Minmus, for the lander, it's 46.0 N.

"weight" is commonly used as a synonym of "mass", even though it is not scientifically correct.

Kosmo-Not actually did experimentally calculate the mass of a Kerbal about a year ago, and came up with a 32 kg value, which was very close to the persistence file's value of 31.25 kg (under the standard assumptions that a Kerbal Mass Unit is a metric ton, of course.)

Well, I deleted 0.19.1 (why, I will never know... probably something about making a mess with my update of parts to my own "new structure" [i did the reverse so I could organize part structure [so gamedata/parts/pods/a_manned/squad]]) so I couldn't get the exact value :(

But in answer to francesco's question; I just checked persistent.sfs

I'm actually not happy with this change.

The suit + kerbal are now close to "human weight" which throws off the whole "we are kerbals who live on a in 10.6x smaller than earth"

*Actually, it is more so the suit + kerbal == the human EVA suit.

I don't know about the average Kerbal...but Jeb eats solid rocket fuel for breakfast.

Ever wondered about the real reason behind the launch tower's disappearance? (Yes, yes, they said they got rid of it on purpose, simply because it was in the way...but that was just the cover story of course.) One of Jeb's favorite tricks is lighting his SRB burps on fire. They kept trying to tell him that there's a time and a place for that sort of thing, and that the launch pad is most certainly not a place or it...but did he listen?

Of course not.
