Tylo or Bust!

Recommended Posts

Here's my attempt(s) to get Kerbals on Tylo and (hopefully) back to Kerbin.

Tylo I

This was the first attempt.

Rendezvous with the lander. I had lots of trouble trying to dock because I forgot RCS on the lander and the poor placement of the Crew ship RCS ports didn't help.

I had to jettison the Orbital kick motor in order to dock with the lander.

Burning into a Jool transfer orbit. I had to make a few passes around the planet because the LV-N is so weak and beause I had to jettison the orbital kick motor.

Landed! The landing legs started glitching after that and I had to raise them.

Bob plants another flag beside a near by rock and claims it as his.

Realizing that the lander does not have enough fuel to return to orbit, Jeb and Bob said their last words to Kerbin and eventually suffocated after their life support systems failed.

May they rest in peace. ;.;

Tylo is a tough one. My lander was quite a bit bigger, it required a lot of radial fuel tanks and staging, but it worked. My final ascent stage was only a bit smaller than your entire craft. A few radial fuel tanks probably would have been enough for you to take off again. But I do admire the attempt at landing and returning with such a minimalist craft.
