Fastest Time to Gilly

Simple steps:

1. Start a new game

2. Design a new rocket

3. Get to Gilly as fast as possible

4. place a Flag on Gilly

Rules:

-No new parts e.g. super rocket that can fly anwhere with no fuel

-No mods that actively help you fly your ship e.g. mechjeb etc

-Other mods are OK though like the alarm clock one etc

-when your ship lands it must be intact (it must have all the parts included in the final stage)

-no cheating:sticktongue:

To be realistic, one can get there in under a week-- Constant acceleration until you get to eve then some extreme aerobraking can let this happen. You just need a monster CPU to handle a ship with that much dV in space.

Got it in 8 days 3 hours. All stock parts, no mods. Had about 10k delta-v with a nuclear asparagus after getting to Kerbin orbit. The hardest part was aligning the aerobraking so it would take me in the right direction at the right speed. Here's the album. It says Year 1, Day 9 on the tracking station because it starts with day 1 instead of day 0.

Thanks. No I didn't use a Hohmann transfer. At the beginning of the game Eve is a little ahead of Kerbin in its orbit, so if you go 10 km/s towards the Sun from Kerbin orbit, you'll be going towards Eve and will get there pretty fast. It's possible to get there as fast as you want if you have enough delta-v, just play around with maneuver nodes to get the right direction to burn in.
