Fearless Son
Not the usual fare in this thread, but it's technically an SSTO (and a lag-free one at that!):That looks like one of the cheapest and lowest part-count Minmus-delivery launch vehicles I have ever seen. eddiew
Nothing fancy, but clean lines, crazy easy to fly, and got to LKO with 500m/s. Just a little tourist boat with some safety parachutes features and surprisingly little CoM movement during flight BackstoryMy first career spaceplane since 1.0 hit, having finally unlocked the turbojet node on CCT. Built, flew, went to space on the first attempt, but didn't quite make orbital due to poor piloting. With a shallower angle of ascent she hit 1050m/s at 20km and easily circularised, allowing both a 3-tourist mission, and a rescue mission in one shot.*edit* The canards are dangerous... on re-entry, they decided to invert and were pulling down even as the rear elevons were pulling up! D: Fortunately they can be turned off completely without crippling the ship's nimbleness. Actually managed to pull a 180 after overshooting, and land on the runway, without the canards, so I may rip them off entirely to lower the drag. Red Iron Crown
That looks like one of the cheapest and lowest part-count Minmus-delivery launch vehicles I have ever seen.It was for a challenge, and of course soon after I posted that one someone did it with only six parts (but more expensive). It's Minmus + Mun, BTW. Wjolcz
Rename to SSTO 12http://i.imgur.com/ZGLrdJG.pngSSTO 12-Long Haulhttp://i.imgur.com/z1zJfxj.pngThank Rune your suggestionHey, I really like how your SSTOs look! Copied the clippy-cockpit idea and modified it a bit.Javascript is disabled. View full albumIt was only a sub-orbital hop, that I really screwed up on reentry, but it had so much fuel I'm pretty sure it could achieve LKO. Still WIP. Dr Farnsworth
Good news everyone!Farnsworth Rocket Surgery and Rubber Toast Deliver is proud to present to you the Chipmunk space plane! The chipmunk is perfect for single crew transfer on an orbiting station. Drone core included so you can send it out pilot-less.100 kilometer orbits are no problem.Yes...that is a docking port shoved in it's rear. How else are you going to dock with your station.Javascript is disabled. View full albumFlight characteristics are in the album.Come and get it while it's hot! eddiew
Wanted to rotate the crew on my LKO station, without paying the cost of a staged rocket. Cracked 1200m/s on air No real cargo capacity, but docking is a cinch; just aim the ports at each other and use RCS to translate upwards. No tendency to drift, so probably overspecced with thruster ports, but they don't really do any harm.
Dr Farnsworth
Good news everyone! The Farnsworth Meerkat SSTO is ready for delivery.100km orbits are easy!Flies like a fighter jet!Complementary aft shielded docking port for station attaching-ness.Javascript is disabled. Rune
My first visit to Tilo on the SSTO spaceplanehttp://i.imgur.com/dBR5nsJ.jpgHoly boop, you managed to set it down in (almost) one piece! That little guy is impressive! Did you do it on RAPIERs? Or half nukes/half RAPIERs? What kind of dV did you use?Rune. That is something I would like to see a video about! fenya
I tried to use the maximum nuclear engines, so they worked all the time. Rapiers reduced vertical speed and was in the final stage of landing.According to approximate estimations, atomic engines gave about 1500 m/s of deltaV Edited August 8, 2015 by fenya
Derpiderp
I've revisited one of my older SSTOs I used to call "The Doppeldecker" from the 0.90 version of KSP and tried to make it fly again. It turned out to be the best SSTO i've ever made. It is capable of landing on Minmus without refueling. The only problem is that it doesn't have enough Delta-V to return to Kerbin. On this Picture the Doppeldecker is trying to return to return to Kerbin. You can see that it doesn't have enough Delta-V:On this Picture I've messed up the burn and ended up in an Orbit around the Sun:

Scarecrow88
Designed this in the last day just to provide something that was easy to fly, with a straightforward flight profile, and capable of performing single crew exchange to stations orbiting Kerbin.1400 m/s at 19000m in air breathing mode means this craft is capable of reaching 300k x 300k orbits with some fuel to spare.Chariot SSTO Edited August 11, 2015 by Scarecrow88

It's a 2xTurbo Ramjet+2xSwivel combo, right? Was trying to make the same thing that would be capable of transporting 4 crew for quite a while now. Hope you won't mind if I copy your design and adapt it to my needs?EDIT: Anyone else got any RAPIER/Aerospike-less SSTO designs I could take a look at? problemecium
I finished my Mk3 stowable Laythe Plane! It's an ultra-compact SSTO spaceplane for exploring Laythe, capable of stowing within a Mk3 cargo bay. Details and a download link are available via my signature.
Nothalogh
I challenge people to build an SSTO without using mk3 wings. But those wings have fuel in them
Dr Farnsworth
Good news everyone!Chipmunks can fly. Rune
When I first built the Longsword, I had the idea that it would handle low-density payloads mostly. But then, it turned out way better than I expected, and it could lift a whole Big Red, pretty much maxing the bay. And then, 1.04 happened and I got even more performance out of it... but since the real payloads I want to use are usually pretty low density, I was under utilizing it a lot. So, I'm fooling around with a Longsword-EX version, with three crewmen and a bay sized to handle three of my Base Modules at a time. I think I am making them a standard length, the bay of the Spatha is the same length (half a big red, capped by ports). It actually flies great, being such a monster. But I'm dubious it can lift as much raw mass.Rune. Who cares, not using it to lift ore from kerbin any time soon.

Red Iron Crown
Is it laythe capable?http://i.imgur.com/z6jQZYI.jpgIt can be a little bit more and have extra 100 m/s http://i.imgur.com/yscNCBs.jpgShould be capable of transfer to Laythe, landing, and ascent. It will be marginal for the return to Kerbin, though.
