Yeah, they can try to jump the canyon when they get bored

4 years is a pretty quick trip to Sarnus but still, the more you do in realtime closer in, the less progress the Sarnus ship will make.  Do you plan on scaling back "inner system" operations during the trip?

I am still doing inner system colonization for now but I will put a cap (depending on the size of the planet or moon) so that I don't have to keep doing it forever. For example, the Duna base will have a maximum of 24 Kerbals, while Dres will have a maximum of 12.

Initial orbit around Sarnus

Ovok orbit insertion

The WiM-10 miner, which carried the first probes to Sarnus, took off from the surface to refuel the Negi Maru

Thomwell Kerman left in the Sarnus Rabbit 1 to become the first Kerbal on Ovok

As the engines were meant for the high gravity of Slate, they were set to a very low throttle for Ovok.

A few hours were spent on the surface.

After making two sorties with the WiM-10 miner (one to fully refuel the Negi Maru, the other to have additional fuel reserves to be transported to the Negi Maru in another orbit), the Negi Maru departed Ovok for Slate.

Camlorf boarded Sarnus Rabbit 1, which used up all the fuel in the descent/crasher stage

Landed on the Slatean Supercontinent. There are many craters and steep slopes, but also many flat areas.

After a day, Sarnus Rabbit 1 took off. The ascent stage had 1.5 times as much delta-v as the descent/crasher stage.

Returned to the Negi Maru, without running out of propellant this time.

I was referring to the last landing on a high-gravity moon (Tylo), where the ascent stage didn't have enough delta-v, and Jeb had to use his jetpack.

The craft de-orbited, jettisoned the atmospheric probe Aquamarine-a, then returned back to a stable orbit.

Atmospheric entry: not much heating, just deceleration. (I had to disable Scatterer again because of the bug where the sky appears pitch black)
