Shapeways 3D Printed Jebediah Model [IMAGES]

JTK - Not sure, that would be a question for SQUAD. I used a model that was available in a pre-0.16 version of the game. It was .mu file that I converted in a format that could be opened in Google SketchUp then unfolded on Pepakura. I would have liked to make free paper models of the the new pods, which I may ask SQUAD for permission. No promise though, takes some time to create a new papercraft.

Yeah, think this thread could go into the "You know your addicted to KSP when thread" lol, when your goal is to buy a 3d printer to make a Jeb and pose him with your cat (Mine would love it!!!)

Wait, wait, wait wait... I know this is old and I doubt you'll respond... but how in the name of Jeb did you convert the .mu file?!?!!?!?!??

Since he mentioned "pre-0.16", it was probably an old model file, and those were basically free-for-all for conversion.

I have recently built a 3d printer. Now, if only there was a way to get those cad files. Perhaps squad could just sell them at a fairly reduced price.

Yeah the way the game is currently structured, models cannot be extracted anymore.

But here are the Jeb, Bob, and Bill in real life!

The best part is - there is no visor BLYxr.gif

They should really make it so you could upload your .craft files to shapeways and they would print out your rocket design. I might go for that. They have a deal with Minecraft to print out your world designs, they even have a special world viewer tool to select the part you want and send it to them, so I would think it would be pretty trivial for shapeways to print KSP rockets.

Squad should make a rocket, put a Shapeways Jeb inside and fix a camera facing it AND THEN ATTACH IT TO A WEATHER BALOON... Imagine a picture of Jeb in space. Then offer the Jeb as a reward for a purchaser of KSP in that month. Would be a way to boost sales heh.

...why do I want to put my crew of 3 with a GoPro and a weather balloon now.

Gotta admit, having KSP figures going to "space" is risky but would make a great conversation piece: "those? Oh yeah, they went to space, here's the picture".

Yeah, I could see this. I really don't think anyone would re-distribute them and if they did, they would be caught very quickly. And anyways, if SQUAD was that nervous about it, they could just upload them to Shapeways themselves. You can't download the 3D models from Shapeways.

Just thought of something even better... How about sending them up with SpaceshipTwo?
