cover for satellites?

Hello Kerbonauts,

yesterday I built a satellite to get to duna. One thing I encountered is that the satellite is socked on top of the rocket. But it looks pretty terrible as there is no cover on the satellite. Is there any mod or possibility to get the satellite covered like in real? Or is this a planned feature for the future?

What's your opinion so far? Thanks in advance.

PS: sry for my english ;)

It's call fairing (for your futur research)

There is lot of mod. I just asked the question on the How to section to make them stock part

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/34502-How-to-make-a-payload-fairing-with-stock-part

You can see how people did it with stock, or use http://nathannifong.com/FairingFactory/ or on space port look for fairing.

If you are willing to use mods (and these won't really affect game play at all), the KW Rocketry mode here has some excellent fairings. you can install it then delete everything but the fairings if you are fussy about the extra parts clutter.

As mentioned the KW rocketry mod has really nice fairings (once u fathom how they work, bit counter intuitive, but effective). There are also some different style fairings that can be used slightly differently in the nova punch pack, but that pack needs updating for full .20.2 comparability, but the fairings from it work. And if you have built something oddly shapped and need a very custom cover, check out nnifongs faring factory, where u can build custom fairings. I've not tested new fairings from it in 20.2 but ones I made previously still work.

Yeah, I prefer the NovaPunch fairings because they are easier to work with and have a good variety of sizes (2.18m, 2.5m, 3.125m, 3.75m). I haven't had anything yet that I couldn't cover with the NP fairings, but the Fairing Factory website can make anything you need.

KW Rocketry offers some nice, easy to use fairings but when it comes to oddly shaped parts it may not be the best. As mentioned the Fairing Factory is your best bet at that point but it is rather cumbersome and harder to use compared to KW's fairings.
