Connecting Docking Port to Multi-Point Connector

I'm having trouble connecting ports to the connector. I doubt this is a bug with the game because everyone else I see that has a station can do this so I'm just not getting how to do it. I've been at this for a good half hour trying to figure out if I'm supposed to rotate it, or if it'll auto-fit, or whatever because I haven't the slightest clue at this point.

Rotate the docking port by 90°. Then rotate the camera down in a way that you see the port from the side, attach the port sideways to the node.

If this wasn't clear enough, tell, I will make some pics showing the workflow.

Rotate in VAB using WASD. Hold shift while clicking WASD and you'll rotate 5 degrees instead of 90.

Aha! I did not know parts were rotatable.
