docking Ports - After Seening tutorial's

Recommended Posts

A general Build Question,

I have watch many good tutorials on how to dock two space crafts together, and how to dock to a Stock Space Station core.

so my question is, the youtube clips are using a Mark 1 Command pod with a Clmp O Tron Jr, but I have just discovered apart 30 mins flight time that you are not able to connect as the Jr Clamp is to small, for the Station port as this will need a Clamp O Tron "normal"

so how were you able to use a Mk1 Command pod with at looks like the Jr Clamp.

I am not quite sure what you mean, but I guess you want to know how to make a mk1 pod with a normal dockingport instead of a junior one?

Well you can either put an adapter at the top of your command pod then put the dockingport, or you could put it there directly, it would just look really weird. Or you could flip your pod upside down, put the dockingport there and build your launcher at the "top" of the command pod.

Alternatively, you can use the inline dockingport and dock your craft sideway.

Else, a mk1-2 pod can hold a normal dockingport at the top without any problems!

Junior ports connect with junior ports, regular ports connect with inline and shielded ports, senior ports connect with senior ports. The most rational and simple explanation to your youtube conundrum is that the station core had gotten a port swap. If that wasn't explained in the video it either slipped the author's mind, you skipped over that part or it was explained in a previous video if it perhaps was a series.
