Dream Chaser Shuttle [0.23.5]

Recommended Posts

Nice job on this. I have been trying to make the Dream Chaser as well, but none of them even pass the test of atmospheric flight. Your's is really good. Do you think you could put a probe pod in there? I don't want to risk my kerbals' lives, not good at landings. :)

Nice shuttle. I was hoping to create my own STS style shuttle, but I still need to fiddle with the center of mass (I found a way to basically keep it constant) and the instability of the shuttle on a glider landing. I've also been trying to create my own Dream Chaser shuttle, but for sever kerbals instead.

Such a small probe body can't possibly mess its center of mass.

About landing guys, if you REALLY need to lighten it up, you can dump at excessive liquid fuel(there is more of that than oxidizer) which is prett much dead weight. You just pump all the liquid fuel into the back and turn on engines to full throttle.

That way since there is no oxidizer the liquid fuel will simply drain out making the shuttle lighter so it glides better.

I love the Dream Chaser, and this one is a very nice rendition. My only wish is that the stock spaceplane parts could hold more kerbals! I previously developed a mini shuttle to combat this issue, although it has quite a few mod parts :D

Here's my Mjolnir Mk-1 Mini Shuttle:

(Holds 4 Kerbonauts and glides fairly well on direct approach to the runway)

Dayum that thing looks good on reentry... Any other mods besides B9?

Thanks! It primarily uses B9, but it also uses the tail piece and OMS engines from the KSO pack, the stealth wings pack (for the black heat tile effect), tanks and what not from KW, and rescaled stock structural fuselages (1.25m scaled to .625) in order to achieve the lifting body effect. And I think for the fairing around the bottom of the shuttle on launch it uses bulkheads and fairing walls from Novapunch. I have a REALLY mod heavy game... and my frame rates suffer badly sometimes....
