Comrade Jenkens
Ok though I want female kerbals to be in this is not how I want them. They're meant to look like astronauts not models!
rodion_herrera
I'm not going to argue any further this Thread won't live for longBecause that is what you and the others who specifically and deliberately do not like the idea of female kerbals in the game, would want to happen. I won't be surprised if it indeed got closed down, but I got what I came here for, lots of things learned, so it was an effort not wasted. Thanks for your participation Canopus, and Brabbit, esp. for making the discussions a little bit err, more colorful BTW, I believe (again, only my speculation) that the very fact that this thread has had participation in the span of an hour, and discussions spurted along, as Leax well noted, is because people feel passionately about their side of the issue i.e. to have or have not female Kerbals in the game, and I for one am fascinated by that and is a learning experience too, on the opinions and stands of people here. So I for one am glad I started it and I continue to hope for more constructive criticism and opinion, such that has been displayed by some here who actually directed their post contribution to the actual topic at hand. May you continue to do so, thanks. Edited June 14, 2013 by rodion_herrera
Brabbit1987
Well I am just speaking my mind. I do not believe I have said anything wrong here nor do I see the issue in wanting female kerbals. I also know i am not the only one. Not sure why it has to turn into such a huge issue when someone wants something that is reasonable.

leax256
Then make a modI would, however I am not a modder. my parents already want to kill me for playing the game, modding it might be too much. apparently to them it's more sane to go in the army and kill people for a living. Actually you had quite good answers early on, so I hope we focus on that again.

It doesn't effect gameplay .. but neither does better shadows, better graphics or better textures. It's a bad excuse, jsut because it doesn't add anything "you" particularly want. leax256
so in reply to the OP, Looks good, the horns need to go, make them a bit more green. I'd accept them. Maybe see if your friend would do some art meant for female kerbals. Also for those who don't already know, before it's questioned I'm male. It doesn't effect gameplay .. but neither does better shadows, better graphics or better textures. It's a bad excuse, jsut because it doesn't add anything "you" particularly want.Just like your "want" (and I don't want to say this to downgrade the definition of 'female population') of having female Kerbals, you represent a portion of the "market" out there, but also, people like Canopus and the others who are seriously opposed to the idea, also belong to another portion of the KSP market. So the devs cannot also discount their "want". It's a delicate balance. Then I come along and seriously want to know if the devs have planned for the possibility of exposing KSP more to girl players, simply because I am a parent and I have a daughter, and curious about KSP's plans for that segment. So it really is an interesting issue here, so I hope that our discussions do attract the interest of the devs and perhaps give clear-cut and definite answers (and not really like we would actually mar their current efforts and work "Hey the devs have too much on their plate now so don't bug them with this silly idea! Let them finish RESOURCES NOW!" mindset that some people here have begun to express) just to "pacify" some of the concerns expressed herein. Rage097
So this thread is alive again? And had devolved into arguments again?some issues are best left where they lie. this one in particular seems to be the equivalent of politics or religion half the time. rodion_herrera
give it a bit, Nova should be here soonActually if they do participate, I can already imagine the starting line of Nova or Art and say something like. "No, our planned designs look nothing like that." And the funny part is, THAT is a remark I WOULD respect, because they own the game after all. What slightly ticks me off is how some of the contributors to this thread actually sound as if they automatically have the approval or backing of the devs, that this or that feature really won't make it into the game, but that's just me so don't bother commenting about my impression LOL
Brabbit1987
Well the issue here is it really doesn't matter exactly how they look other then having them have a bit of female features. Long hair, long eye lashes a bit of makeup ... done. It isn't fairly hard to do and would really require much work. However going beyond that would be even better, but wouldn't be required to be acceptable. I most certainly would love to have cute female kerbals. Course I know the game isn't about that, so that is why I would simply settle for something easy like the above.I mean really if this wasn't an issue, there wouldn't be a topic let alone people arguing about it. Would you consider that right or wrong? I have not seen one person give me any good reason why female kerbals should not exist other then they don't want them. Which is ridiculous and not a good reason at all.

rodion_herrera
Which is ridiculous and not a good reason at all.Think "placeholder". Harvester himself is fond of using the term, for KSP's areas which still need to be further enhanced and developed. So I don't think they are deliberately ignoring the issue--like most people here I also believe Squad is focusing on the more important ones. Brabbit1987
I don't want female kerbals because they don't have a Gender to start with...They do, it's just an excuse not to include female kerbals. In other words it's not a good reason. What difference for you would it make if female kerbals where added? For you personally it would not make any difference and I am surprised that is the best answer you could come up with for my question. Also the game is in alpha, things change. Sapphire
Kerbals have strong jawlines. Square heads, pointed hairlines. Masculine proportions when comparing the lower body to the upper body. Masculine names. Gender or not, these "androgynous" Kerbals were undoubtedly modeled after the male form.
