Kragrathea
Hering insisted we go down and "check it out" (whatever that means). I admit the ride was shall we say, exhilarating. It took Hering three goes to get to the bottom. And my bottom puckered each time. A few shots from the "fun" in this album.http://imgur.com/a/igmmb
stupid_chris
That's quite the dramatic drop there. Any smooth slopes coming down the factory line?
Kragrathea
Ah! Good Question stupid underscore chris, might I hazard a guess? You are a skier,Yes? Well, we can and will accommodate you! Many slopey planets await. But this is Krag. My namesake. I dare say it is likely to be more awkward corners than smooth supple curves.
Scotius
How high that cliff is on average? Younger members of Space Research Bureau for some unfathomable reason started clamoring about "KAS cables" "rappeling" and "rock climbing" after seeing those pictures. I have to admit it got me worried a bit.
th3shameless
Mr kragathea, I have a new offer to propose. We'll give you eve, dres, moho, and tylo. Also relocation of laythe to eves former spot. How does this offer sound?
Darth Maul
Krag my add-on was sort of shut down by the community. I still would like to do that but I feel the only way is to join forces with you. What do you say? Shall we give it a go?

Your threads showing nothing were closed by the forum mods, not the same thing. If you open a dev thread and show work it wont get closed.
swiftgates24
Well, Krag, it seems that "update bomb" was released. Anything new from your planet factory?
Kragrathea
Well, not unexpectedly, 0.21 has gummed up the works. The engineers are poking at it now... The cliff face is (or was! god knows what the "version update" did. Probably just a pile of slag now...) 9500m. Hering insisted we get an accurate height as he too planned to "repel" it. I expect that is the last we will see of him poor chap.
Itsdavyjones
Lets hope it isn't a pile of slag, for that will suck.
Scotius
Nine thousand and five hundred meters...WHAT? Oh, no - no way anyone is trying to climb this Wall of Death on my watch. At least until S.R.B can buy parachutes for everyone.
KhaosCorp
9500 meters is not rapelling height...that's basejumping height(skydiving?)...that planet needs some air!edit:now I have confused myself! what the heck would you call that?!? Its jumping off a mountain right...thats base jumping. But its 9500m....thats skydiving, and actually alot higher then most of that is done.....confused... HoY
"Lithodiving"Depending on the gravity of the planet it will also be completed with an abrupt Lithobrake.
Kragrathea
Yes, I suppose the scale didn't really come through in those photos. http://imgur.com/a/igmmbIn the second one we had landed at the edge (9528m). Hering went charging out to look down the cliff side. I stayed well back. He was all ready to jump off and "RCS" down the face when I pointed out that the gravity was too high for his quaint rcs thrusters. He went a bit pale and moved back a bit from the edge, which was a relief. I am not that good a pilot you know. Then he got it in his head to visit the bottom so, down, we, went, <shudder>. Thats the rest of the photos. You can see in the shot where Hering is frolicking that the height is (1m). The last shot is us finally getting the hell out of there. That black bit is the outer core. Nice eh? Nothing but the best for you delightful Kerbals.Half way down. Edited July 25, 2013 by Kragrathea

Pigbear
So that planet has an exposed core? That would mean it would never be able to have a magnetic field, thus is meant to not have on, Meteor Shield?

Kragrathea
Broke. Very Broke. Our engineers went from confident to recriminations and snarling at each other in record time. Now they are at the pub to "let it soak in" whatever that means. But I see one small group in the back almost sober and they are smiling and scribbling on a napkin. So maybe all is not yet lost Kerbals... Barkeep!! 'nother round here! <hic>Sent from my brainPhone. Edited July 27, 2013 by Kragrathea
stupid_chris
I really hate to have to ask this from you as I really love your character in all of it's aspect but... could you just make a short post where you explain what broke with .21 and how things are going? Not forcing you though, it's up to you in the end, you don't have to tell us exactly what goes on at all time, but I'd like just a bit of indicators with my Douglas Adams
Kragrathea
Fair enough. In simple terms; squad used to make planets one way, now they make them a completely different way. I don't even know how different yet. But about half the code is now worthless and we need to go back to the drawing board on a few critical systems. No idea how long that is going to take but a rough guess is "a while". <frowny face>Kim. Edited July 27, 2013 by Kragrathea
stupid_chris
Crap :l Well keep up the work, we'll be patient, I'll go get a gargle blaster and squash my derision with a slice of lemon wrapped around a gold brick alone in the meanwhile
Razchek
A lot of code was fixed. Some new small bugs were introduced. But for the most part - the PQS orientated mods are heavily affected. They function the way they should, so a lot of work arounds that were implemented need to be revisited. Some projects require a complete overhaul.Especially when dealing with the planeterium. Good luck Krag, give me a message if you need a hint or two. (:
