Well, Crud. Let's try this again.

Posted an Intro thread. It vanished. I must have forgotten to turn it's ASAS Module on. :D

Anyway: I found the game about 2 weeks ago, and watched a few videos, downloaded the demo, etc.

After much death and destruction, and a few more videos, I figured out how to build something capable of Munar rendezvous, and THEORETICALLY capable of landing and returning to Kerbin. ...5 tries later, Lusy Kerman successfully landed on the Mun and returned to Kerbin. (all Hail Philly Kerman, Edly Kerman x2, and Lusy Kerman's identical twin - all of whom died or were stranded in their attempts.)

After that, I put it on my wishlist, told some people at work about it, as well as a few friends... and waited for a sale - which I didn't expect so soon.

With the full version, I've rapidly found 2 things.

1> I can't fly a friggin' space plane to save my life. Or a Kerbal's. Even the stock planes only get off the ground without doing something really stupid about half the time, much LESS my own designs. ...landing, on the few that get off the ground, is right out.

2> Is there a way to get anything in space to maintain a certain orientation RELATIVE TO THE BODY BEING ORBITED? I want Communication satellites SO badly... But I can't keep the dishes pointed anywhere useful.

...yeah, I know they'd be pointless. I want them anyway. ;)

See you in space!

1) The stock planes aren't meant to be great planes, because Squad wants you to be able to make better ones yourself. They're just examples, so don't feel bad if you can't get them to fly well. I've made a couple of airplanes that should be easy to fly, though, which you can find here, if you're interested: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/25413-Trainer-and-Example-Aircraft-for-Newbie-Pilots 2) Currently, all the game's guidance systems work to maintain an absolute attitude with reference to the fixed stars. I don't know if any mods do that. Oh, and your other post also showed up. It's just that until you have submitted a total of 5 posts, a moderator has to approve them before they go through, to help make sure you are not a spambot.

Hmm. I'll definitely have to check out your planes, thanks.

...At the moment, my attempts at heavy-lifting for Space Station Chunks is... not going in an exactly stellar fashion. Pyrotechnic, perhaps, but not stellar. :)

Yeah, as soon as I clicked post for THIS one, I spotted the moderation notice. Missed it the first time.

Well, somewhere down the line, the physics engine may enable what I want with Satellites, since it's actually relatively easy to do in the real world by tidal effect. I'll keep dreaming. ;)
