Orbiter Shuttle!

Gentlemen, I present to you...

The orbiter shuttle!

Needs the C7 Flight pack.

You also need to fit an engine of your choice. I use one I modded to have 2000 thrust.

It takes long to get into orbit, but it works with enough fuel left for re-entry.

Also, that SAS Is essential. I forgot to add it in the file, but I suggest that you add it unless you want a ship that is completely uncontrollable in higher altitudes.

I may add SRB\'s and the huge fuel tank in the future. Feel free to experiment with adding some, it\'ll probably improve performance.

Will you stop saying this every time? The game doesn\'t SUPPORT external tanks, so the fuel has to be onboard.

Just lay off until the game works differently.

You can\'t radially attach fuel tanks. You can create radial boosters that use liquid fuel, but the main engines of a space plane (or rocket) cannot draw fuel from ANY part connected as a child, including radial tanks.

C7 didn\'t just make the tanks fuel efficient because he felt like it.

Oh I know that, so all you have to do is just give each engine it\'s own fuel.

So.. what is the problem here? Why not attach larger engines with vertically noded radial decoupler?

Because its a space shuttle.

Staging doesn\'t make sense for spaceplanes in general, save a very few cases. Dropping external tanks? Yes. Dropping extra engines? No.

Umm, if we gave the external tanks engines it would work. All we would need then are two massive SRB\'s and struts.

Yes, but then it wouldn\'t be a space shuttle. It\'s kind of missing the point. (unless you\'re making a Buran, of course)

Done several attempts with a modified version of this at getting to the mun. Not great... sorta got stuck on a perpentual orbit around the sun. I think I\'ll probably do better when I make the SRB\'s and fuel tank...

EDIT: Shuttle failed at getting to Mun.

Yeah that is a lot of dead weight to get to the Mun, gonna need a good pile of fuel
