Internal Satalites

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I got Kerbal Space Program tonight, and I've been putting a few things into space :D I'm wondering it there any way to store satellites inside a launch vehicle? I was thinking it would be inside a tube section that split into two or four or something. Like they would in real life. Right now mine just sit at the very top and its not very aerodynamic (especially when you accidentally deploy solar panels!).

Is there a mod out there for this? Or could it be an official addition at some point?

Thanks

Actually, i believe at the moment aerodynamics aren't fully implemented yet, and making an aerodynamic rocket won't help you anything (for the time being). That's probably one of the reasons why asparagus staging works so well at the moment.

Also, you'll want to avoid deploying solar panels in-atmosphere, they're generally very, very fragile.

For your fairings, try the link above :-)

Thanks! It doesnt seem to be working for me but I am at work with a funny internet connection so I'll try again later at home.

Looks like there's a pretty vibrant modding community with this game, which is pretty awesome.

You can also try using KW Rocketry. It adds fairings, but also a lot of other parts. The same goes for AIES or NovaPunch, though NovaPunch wasn't updated last time I checked. Or you could just make them out of stock parts. No matter how you use them, though, fairings are actually gonna increase the drag of your rocket, unless you use FAR (Ferram Aerospace Research), which introduces realistical aerodynamics to the game. Oh, and you just lost the game.
