modeling program

I'm trying to get started with modding. I already know how to program the parts I make, but I can not, for the life of me, model the parts. I've tried Blender with no luck. So, what are some intuitive and easy to use, 3d modeling programs. I already know how to use sketch up, but that's about it and I don't thank that would work with animations.

Piracy? Where did that come from? Both sketch up and blender are freeware. It is impossible to pirate them. Sorry for putting this in the wrong section though.

If you're a student there's free versions of Max and Maya at students.autodesk.com

There's always the wiki, My tutorial explains a few different styles of modelling.

Blender is pretty much the only free thing you can use for making detailed models easily (well, easier than sketchup). Try reading Blender: Noob to Pro. It really helped me (until I got bored) but it's great for beginners.

The tutorial explains everything from the basics, you only need to bring some patience.

I use an earlier version of Milkshape for the basic design, I export it to Blender for find details and the final exporting.
