Greetings! A couple of questions.

Hello everyone,

Just recently purchased KSP a few days ago and am enjoy my time. I've had a few successful missions to Minmus as well as Mun. I would like to know if there is a way to make an unmanned rocket that can still have a command pod on there. However, I would like it so that I could use it as a transport for Kerbals return home from other planets but not have to take any Kerbals with me for the voyage there?

Also what mods (as of 0.20.2) are a necessity? I pretty much enjoy the vanilla aspect and not having to have a bunch of extra things all over my screen.

The first crew capsule you install will be supplied with a crew when you go to the Launchpad, but you can have the guys go EVA and "end flight" them one at a time to leave the capsule empty. Or, if you're in a bad mood, you can just have them let go of the ladder and fall to their deaths. Either way, the capsule is left empty and ready to go save some lives!

You could also use a habitat/hitchiker pod, with a probe command core to fly it.

There's an awesome mod called Crew Manifest. You can use it to remove the crew from your command module but I've never tried launching with no crew, so I'm not sure if that will work. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/18-1-kerbal-crew-manifest/
