Should i open this Gift?

Hello people.

I live in the UK and a workmate recently went to Florida on a holiday, I asked them to bring me a model shuttle back if they go to the Space center. I expected a 3-4" die-cast model, Instead i got a 12" set.

Now, my question is, do you think I should keep this intact and un-opened?

My thought process, is that now the shuttle has been cancelled, Memorabilia of it will start becoming more rare. And given its iconic status, i think in 40 years, this Un-Opened toy could be worth a lot of money if its still in mint condition.

90%+ of things people think will become valuable in decades don't, the rest become valuable because they failed initially and hardly any are left by the time people start getting interested in collecting them.

That thing, probably hundreds of thousands exist, thousands are sitting in basements and lofts waiting for them to become valuable.

I would say use it how it's intended otherwise the toy's only purpose in this world has been un-fulfilled.

Imagine if you had one purpose in this world and you couldn't do it because you were in a plastic box?

Ok, Ill open it. I know the box is slightly damaged but the product is fine, however, it was in a suitcase for the best part of 20 hours.

As for Playing with it, im 34. I think my Fiance will give me strange looks if I start running round my house with a model shuttle in my hand making rocket noises such as brrrrghhh "ckkkhhhkjkoooooooooowoooooohhhhhh"

Get some black fabric or greenscreen for a backdrop, do some practical effects and film it. Release it as stock footage or make something else out of it.
