What's a payload in KSP?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've been trying to reach a correct translation for payload but I don't quite understand what it means in this context:

(...) making the Kerbal X a suitable option for orbiting small payloads. These payloads, for a proper orbit, autonomous propulsion would be require to achieve orbit. Such payloads should be less than (...) Extracted from wiki Kerbal X

If someone can define it with words it'd be nice.

Regards,

The payload for example could be a probe, satellite, rover, lander, space station segment, or command pod/capsule. If it's unmanned it needs to have a probe core or remote control unit.
